Abstract

The Indonesian education is still facing a number of problems, particularly related to the low quality and performance of education. The problems among others are caused by the teachers as the main actors of education. The purpose of this study to offer some alternative solutions derived from the roots of the problems. The study suggests to reform the teacher education institutions that produce teacher candidates. Attention should be given to the human resources, facility, students, educational process, and networking.
