Abstract

This study examines the political communication strategy of the NasDem Party in North Sumatra during the 2024 General Election, focusing on how the Indonesian Restoration Movement (Gerakan Restorasi Indonesia) functioned as a central narrative in shaping voter perception, party identity, and electoral outcomes. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study collected data through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The analytical framework is grounded in Stuart Hall’s Encoding–Decoding theory, enabling an exploration of how political messages were constructed and interpreted within the socio-cultural context of North Sumatra. The findings indicate that NasDem’s communication strategy was institutionalized and implemented through four integrated components: (1) the use of simple and contextually grounded political language, (2) consistent deployment of symbolic political identity, (3) hybrid integration of grassroots mobilization and digital media, and (4) sustained two-way communication with the public. This strategy effectively reduced the cognitive distance between political ideology and everyday life, fostered emotional proximity between the party and voters, and strengthened long-term voter loyalty. The party’s stable electoral growth from 2014 to 2024 confirms that sustainable reminder of political success is driven not by campaign intensity alone, but by the continuous institutionalization of culturally resonant, emotionally engaging, and participatory communication practices. This study contributes to political communication scholarship by extending the application of the Encoding–Decoding model to regional Indonesian politics and demonstrating the importance of long-term communication institutionalization in sustaining electoral support and democratic engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to identify marketing communication strategies in attracting consumer interest in BPRS Amanah Bangsa products in Sinaksak, Simalungun Regency using the AIDA model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action). This study utilizes qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Research informants consist of BPRS Amanah Bangsa marketing and consumers. The results show that at the attention stage, consumers can find out about products through the bank directly in the field, social media, pamphlets, and education provided. At the interest stage, consumers are interested because of the benefits and advantages. The desire stage is achieved through strengthening confidence in the security of deposits, clearly the transparency of information on the institution's performance, friendly service, and real testimonials from other users. At the action stage, consumers show their decisions because they have been convinced from the start. This encouragement is influenced by repeated persuasive approaches, easy account opening, and savings with prizes. Each stage illustrates that each consumer does not spontaneously show their interest, but develops gradually due to their beliefs and perceptions from what they see, receive, and feel directly.

Abstract

The development of social media as a primary digital public space has accelerated the intensity of political communication while simultaneously amplifying the symptoms of polarization in Indonesia. High internet penetration means that political discourse is not only widespread but also produced through ideologically charged language practices. This study aims to analyze how Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) can be used to examine the construction and reproduction of political polarization on social media. The study employed a qualitative design with Fairclough's three-dimensional CDA model approach combined with van Dijk's socio-cognitive perspective. Data consisted of 150 posts and 1,200 public comments selected through purposive sampling based on indications of political content and polarization. Data were collected through digital documentation and non-participant observation, then analyzed through the stages of textual analysis, discourse practice, and social practice. The results revealed three dominant strategies in the reproduction of polarization: the dichotomization of "us" versus "them" identities, the moral delegitimization of opponents, and the mobilization of emotions that significantly increase content engagement. These findings confirm that polarization is a symbolic construction reinforced by the platform's algorithmic logic. This research contributes to strengthening the study of digital political communication and emphasizes the importance of critical discourse literacy and more dialogic content moderation design.
