Abstract

This research aim to study the effect of temperature, chilling time, tension, strain, and phase occurred during casting. Finite element simulation method was applied using MS Marc and Fortran software. Condition of casting, when the simulation was run, was divided into three part based on the distance from the center namely 20, 60, and 100 mm. The result showed that simulation at the same temperature, tension of 20 mm has the biggest tension, followed by 60 mm and 100 mm. However, chilling speed at 100 mm from the center was the fastest, and the lowest was 20 mm from the center. At the center of the billet, push tension was occurred. While, pull tension was occurred on the surface

Abstract

Casting is a manufacture process that use liquid metal and mold to shape product as similar as its final geometric shape. That casting product is melted in a furnace before it is shaped. This research aims to analyze furnace design. Furthermore, external shape of the furnace is planned 50 cm x 50 cm and shape of the furnace inside is cylinder with diameter 20 cm. The furnace is expected as learning facility of welding for students

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of torsion angle on the stresses and strains on the material in this case steel and brass. Data collection was performed with the addition of a torsional angle to 1o in materials, material length between 65 mm to 85 mm. Results obtained on different materials with the same length showed that the stress on the steel material is greater than brass (424.415 kgf/mm2 vs. 190.987 kgf/mm2) and the same material (brass) with different length showed that the length of 85 mm smaller voltage longer than 65 mm (190.987 kgf/mm2 vs. 341.89 kgf/mm2).
