Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of a training program to improve English pronunciation for hard-of-hearing students. To achieve the aim of the study, the researchers used the quasi-experimental approach, and the study sample consisted of (30) students with hearing impairments from primary schools in the city of Irbid. The experimental group studied based on the training program and consisted of (15) students, and (15) students of the control group studied in the traditional way. A set of instruments has been prepared, which consists of an image-naming test and preparing a training program based on the curriculum for students to see their effectiveness in raising the level of pronunciation for students with hearing impairments in the English language. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the control and experimental groups in favour of the experimental group. The study recommended holding training courses (sound training) targeting parents of hearing-impaired students in order to develop the receptive and expressive language of their children.

Abstract

The study identified the level of psychological adaptation of students with learning disabilities in English from their teachers’ perspectives. The study aims to achieve results to develop treatment programs for children with learning disabilities in English to help them move away from shyness, fear, and symptoms of social inadequacy in general and psychological adaptation in particular. It can also have a preventive value represented in discovering and assisting children who suffer from psychological maladaptation. The descriptive approach was used in this study and a questionnaire was developed as an instrument. Its validity and reliability were ensured and then applied to as ample of 30 teachers from Irbid city, Jordan, for the academic year 2019/2020. The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the level of psychological adaptation among those with LDs in English from the point of view of their teachers. There were differences according to the gender variable in favor of females. In light of the results, the study recommends conducting scientific studies on psychological adaptation with variables other than the variables used in the research.

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the degree of morale among teachers of learning disabilities in English language in Irbid governorate from the teachers' point of view. The study used the descriptive approach and developed a questionnaire as an instrument of the study. The study sample included (30) male and female teachers. The questionnaire was administered to the sample after verifying its validity and reliability. The instrument's stability coefficient was (95%). The results of the study showed that the teachers' morale levels were moderate. The study recommended providing more training and incentives to teachers to boost their morale, which will have an impact on their performance

Abstract

This research investigated developing the reading skills among students with learning disabilities in English language. The study sample included 20 male and female students from Irbid city, Jordan, who were chosen purposefully, and distributed randomly to two groups. The first group was the experimental group that was taught using the active learning method, and the other group was the control group that was taught according to the usual method. The study used a reading test, which was verified by presenting it to a group of judges. The reliability of the list was checked by using the test and re-test method and the Pearson's coefficient, which was (0.95). The findings revealed the presence of differences between the mean scores of the two study groups on the post-reading test, in favor of the experimental group. The results did not show any statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the two groups in the post-reading test due to the gender variable. In light of the findings of the study, the researcher recommends preparing training programs on active learning and preparing a guide for teachers, which can be used to teach and learn reading skills for students with learning disabilities.

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the use of laissez-faire style in classroom management by teachers of learning disabilities in English language in the light of some variables. The study population consisted of all (60) teachers in the upper basic stage in Irbid Governorate. The study sample consisted of (30) male and female teachers. The study used the descriptive approach and developed a questionnaire as an instrument to collect data. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences for the use of laissez-faire style due to the gender variable based on the calculated (t) value of (4.14), and the differences were in favor of males, as evidenced by their high mean score. The mean score for the responses of males teachers was (2.14), and for female teachers (1,83).

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the level of work stress among secondary school English language teachers in government schools affiliated with the education directorates in Abha, Saudi Arabia, and knowing the impact of both gender, and experience on their estimates. The study population consisted of (105) male and female teachers. A questionnaire was prepared to measure the level of work stress among teachers, and it consisted of (31) items. The results showed that the work pressures facing secondary school English language teachers were at a high level on the dimensions as a whole. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to the variable of gender and teaching experience.

Abstract

The current study aimed at identifying the challenges that English teachers face when they employ the evaluation Matrix in classes for students with learning difficulties. The study followed the descriptive-analytical method. A questionnaire was designed to meet the study objectives. the study sample consisted of 136 English teachers of the primary education level in public schools in the city of Irbid. The findings revealed that the challenges that English teachers face in employing the evaluation Matrix in classes for students with learning difficulties came with a very high degree, they also revealed the absence of differences with statistical significance between the responses of the sample attributable to the variables of gender and experience years. Furthermore, the findings showed the presence of statistically significant differences between the responses of the sample attributable to the variable of academic qualification.
