Abstract

This study is about Syntactic Structure of Coordination on the English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk. The purposes of this research are to find out the types of constituents to form syntactic structure of coordination on the English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk and to explain the distribution of syntactic structure of coordination on the English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk. The data is formed as sentences having syntactic structure of coordination on the English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk. Method of the research in this study is analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. To collect the data, the writer used documentation method. The steps to analyze the data are reading, collecting, and numbering the data. To analyze the data, the writer uses structural grammar. The main theory applied in this study is the theory of Syntax proposed by Francis (1957). The result of the analysis shows that: 1) the types of constituents being combined are categorized in three groups: words which are noun, adjective, verb, and to infinitive; phrase which is noun phrase; and clauses which are independent clause and dependent clause, and 2) the distribution of syntactic structures of coordination on The English Translation of Surah Al-Mulk analyzed based on its function in word, phrase and sentence: two functions in words: as head and as modifier; one function in phrase: as modifier and one function in sentence/clause: as predicate.

Abstract

This research investigates about phonetic differences between Rantau Keloyang Dialect and Sungai Beringin Dialect. The purpose of the research are (1) to know about the differences between Rantau Keloyang Dialect and Sungai Beringin Dialect in term of vowel, consonant and Diphthong and (2) to identify the differences of phoneme between Rantau Keloyang Dialect and Sungai Beringin Dialect. Data are gained through eliciting, participating and note taking technique. Data are analyzed based on theories proposed by Crowley (1987). The result of this research show that the differences of phoneme in both dialects are occurred due phonemic change, diphthong, and phonemic addition as well as deletion.the differences happen due to the influence of Jambinese language in rantau Keloyang dialect and Minangese Language for Sungai Beringin Dialect

Abstract

This research analyzes the negative impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit through WhatsApp text messages and how the strategies function in delivering the impoliteness between the customers and the employees of Home Credit. The purposes of this research are (1) to analyze the negative of impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit; (2) to analyze the functions of impoliteness strategies aimed by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit. The analysis applied Culpeper’s (1996) theory on impoliteness strategy and Culpeper’s (2011) theory on impoliteness function. The research also applied descriptive qualitative method, with the customers’ WhatsApp text messages as the source of the data. The result of this research shows that, (1) there are negative impoliteness (6 data) which occurred in the research; (2) all 6 data of negative impoliteness strategies used by the customers had different functions, which are affective (3 data), and coercive (3 data).
