Abstract

Water is one of the main factors in human life. This fact brings us to the problem that often occurs, namely the use of low-quality water for the purpose of washing, bathing, cooking and drinking. The characteristics of such water in general, among others, the water is cloudy or dull, sometimes somewhat smelling rust and rancid, if exposed to sunlight for a long time, changes color to brownish black. In addition to feeling less comfortable, if this water is used to wash it will give a yellow stain on the clothes. A healthy way is to use a pipe or closed channel. Commonly used water lines are using bamboo pipes, which are rather expensive are PVC pipes and iron pipes. Especially if you use a large pipe size and for long distances, the required costs will be expensive. For rural areas, of course the problem of the availability of costs also needs attention. By paying attention to the things mentioned above, we will develop a method of making pipes that are simple, using materials that are easily available, and more importantly can be made alone, namely pipes with a mixture of palm fiber and cement. With the use of cement fibers, it is intended to apply the operational process to water with good quality.

Abstract

In Indonesia, especially the use of mortar is very popular. Where in constructing a concrete construction, mortar is always used as part of a construction. But the process of making mortar mixtures is sometimes less true in making mixed society in terms of economics and quality. Based on the description, the authors are interested to conduct research on the influence of variation of mix mortar composit ion on compressive strength, with two samples of cement type. Mortar uses mortar from Semen Gresik and from Semen Holcim without any additional materials. research shows that the increasing composition of sand, the compressive strength of mortar decreases. Where the compressive strength of mortar at 28 days for mixed composition variation using Semen Gresik 1: 4 of 9.5 Mpa; 1: 5 of 11.68 MPa; 1: 6 of 7.86 MPa and 1: 7 of 5.31. Whereas the compressive strength value for mortar using Semen Holcim was 13.38 Mpa, respectively; 12,95 Mpa; 7.65 Mpa and 3.19 Mpa. The result of water absorption on the mortar by adding the amount of sand will result in a greater decrease in the compressive strength of each mortar variation. So that the mixture of plaster walls or specimens to adhere the recommen ded flooring and mortar walls of simple mortar is a mixture composition with the ratio of cement: sand 1: 5 for Semen Gresik and 1: 4 and 1: 5 for Holcim Cement.

Abstract

Soil is vital as a construction material and load support in civil engineering building work. The aim of stabilization itself is to increase the bearing strength of the soil by increasing soil cohesion and friction angles in the soil and maintaining good soil bearing strength so that it does not experience a decrease due to the influence of weather and air. Based on the Unified classification system, it is included in the OH classification or what is usually called clay soil with high organic plasticity, while based on the ASSHTO classification, the soil in Pancoran Village, Glagah District, Banyuwangi Regency is included in group A-7-5(25). The addition of Holcim Cement to clay soil from the Pancoran Village area, Glagah District, Banyuwangi Regency in the Direct Shear test obtained the most significant value in the 8.5% mixture with a curing time of 9 days for the ? value, namely ? = 19.8 ? from ? = 11.6 ? in the original soil or there was an increase amounted to 41.41% and for the c value, namely c = 9.75 kg/cm2 from c = 1.6 kg/cm2 in the original soil or an increase of 83.59%. The carrying capacity of soil tends to be greater after mixing cement additives. The maximum soil bearing capacity occurs when mixing 8.5% cement with nine days of curing, namely 66,458 t/m2 from 4,696 t/m2 of the original soil capacity or 92.93% for the Terzaghi method. Meanwhile, for the Meyerhoff Method, the maximum soil bearing capacity occurs when mixing 8.5% cement with nine days of curing, namely 92,696 t/m2 from 7,526 t/m2 of the original soil permit carrying capacity of 91.88%.
