Abstract

Food need in Indonesia always increases while its production tends to decrease. One of factors causing it is contaminants in agricultural environment including lead (Pb). This research aimed to study the effectiveness of bioremediation and microbial consortia fertilizers in increasing rice production and decreasing lead contamination in grain. The research started in August 2013 to February 2014 in village Waru and Kebak, Kebakkramat, Karanganyar, using Nested Factorial Treatment Design and Complete Randomized Block Design with two factors those are bioremediation variety and combination microbial fertilizers with chemical fertilizers. Statistical analysis used F-test, Kruskal Wallis,Tukey 5%, Mood Median, correlation test and regression. Research result showed best production was achieved at V2P1 (Pepe + Azolla 0,183 ton ha-1, microbial fertilizer 0,56 ton ha-1 and chemical fertilizers 50% of farmer standard), that is highest result is achieved at total number of tillers (35,64), number of productive tillers (25,72), Dry Grain (11 ton ha-1) and Dry Milled Grain (8,7 ton ha-1). Azolla microphylla, microbial fertilizer and chemical fertilizers 50% of farmer standard treat was effective to reduce heavy metal residues because lead residues were not found on the grain (0 ppm).

Abstract

Mechanical control as an effort to reduce Erionata thrax attacks needs to develop of them was torning the leaves. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of leaf torning on the intensity of the damage and determine the level of E. thrax attack damage in various cultivars. This research was conducted in Semarang, Central Java from September-December 2018. This research used a field experiment method with four treatments of tearing distance of 0 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm, and 40 cm in four banana cultivars, namely Mas Kirana, Ambon, Kepok, and Raja Bulu. The result showed that leaf damage was related to torning distance, but not to the cultivars. The value of regression between torning distance and leaf damage was very low. The torning distance of 40 cm had the highest leaf damage, number of larvae populations, and number of leaf rolls. The torning distance of 20 cm reduced the leaf damage, the number of larvae populations and the number of rolls. The lowest leaf damage is in Mas Kirana cultivar and the highest leaf damage is in Raja Bulu cultivars. Raja Bulu cultivar had the highest attack intensity.

Abstract

Bagging banana fruits can be develop as a control to protect the fruits from Nacoleia octasema. The objective of this research was to determine the effect and relation of the banana fruit bagging time on N. octasema. This research was conducted in Tlogo Orchard, Delik Village, Tuntang District, Salatiga, Central Java from September-November 2018. This research used purposive sampling with 3 banana cultivars and 4 treatment. The observation variable of this research was the incidence of attacks. The results showed that there was an effect on the banana fruit bagging time against the incidence of pest attacks. The average incidence attack showed that the unbagged banana fruits had the biggest attacks. In addition, there was a positive relationship between the banana fruit bagging time and cultivars on the incidence of attacks. The older a banana bagged, the greater incidence of pest attacks. Kepok had the biggest incidence of attacks compared to the other cultivars.

Abstract

Cricula  trifenestrata  Helfer  (Lepidoptera;Saturniidae) are  insect  pest  of  avocado,  walnuts,  and  cashews.  C. trifenestrata is most destructive insect pest of cashews, but there is no serious control by farmers. The questions about the effect of C. trifenestrata to cashew’s yield. This study aimed to determine the correlation and regression attack  degree of  C.  trifenestrata to  the  number of  flowers and  seeds produced by cashew. Research was conducted by a survey of 30 cashew plants with 6 samples unit at each plant. The parameters observed in this study were plant varieties, plant age, time appears caterpillar, caterpillar number, the attack rate, days to flowering, the number of bunches, flower, and seed. The data were analysed by the correlation and regression analysis. The results showed a positive correlation between the degree of caterpillar attacks to number of flowers and seeds. Increasing degree of attacks may increase the number of flowers and seeds.
