Abstract

The song is an expression of the writer to the listener, based on exprerience, gained either from oneself, others as well as the environment. A song contains lyrics that use language to convey the intention or purpose of the writer to the listener. Slank is a rock and roll music group in Indonesia. Slank is more familiar with the anti-corruption movement or part of social criticism. One of its songs entitled “Gosip Jalanan” gets a lot of response from various parties. Members of the Parliament consider the lyrics to be an insult to their perfomance as the people’s representatives, so through their Honorary Council, they were about to take a legal action against Slank. However the general public supported the music group  as they considered songs created by Slank depicted reality.This study employed a semiotic analysis method aimed at exlpaining the meaning of each sign found in the lyrics from the writer’s as well as the listeners’ point of view in relation to their respective socio-cultural backgrounds.The results of this study revealed that “Gosip Jalanan” lyrics served as an expression of Slank music group’s contemplation based on the members’ personal experience and observation of variety of social realities amidst the society. Corruption and different forms of power abuse currently prevailing in Indonesia the group judged as having been done on a massive and systematic scale, by which Slank referred to as the “mafia”. Money became the source of power misused by the mafia to such extent that they were able to overrun the existing law and regulations. Meanwhile the people listening to the lyrics responded differently. Some were in agreement but others in disagreement about the meaning conveyed by the lyrics. The former judged the lyrics to be in accordance with reality the song attempted to depict, whereas the latter considered that the song did not depict reality, as it was only partial and not universal in nature.  Key Words: Music, Lyrics, Sign and Meanings, Semiotics

Abstract

Elections (elections) in addition to the circulation succession is understood as a five-yearly political as well as a means of popular sovereignty, and "judgment day." The day of the judgment in question is the decision of the electorate to choose or not choose a candidate and a certain party in the elections. Generra party in Salatiga is a newcomer to accept the consequences of judgment day in the 2009 election in the absence of prospective members that qualify as his legislative members of DPRD Salatiga. But the reality of defeat turned the elections in 2014, with 4 chairs of DPRD of Salatiga. "It's a victory strategy, candidates become relevant for the investigation. Researchers used the concept of habitus, capital, and the realm of actor Pierre Bourdieu as a tool of analysis. This research aims to answer how the strategy of winning candidate elected legislative members from the party of Generra, and factors that affect the winning strategy. research method used was qualitative research with the kind of descriptive and eksplanatory.  Based on the results of the analysis, some important findings in this study are: a). strategy of appeasement actors largely determined by the habitus and capital utilization of economic, social, cultural, and symbolic by the actors; b). capital-capital utilization in order to seize the capital in a field looks in two pattern (the actor uses the power of capital economic, cultural, and symbolic as the base form, build and exploit the network in order to gain recognition and legitimacy of the voters to add and accumulate capital-capital and c). dominant factors affecting the image of the actors is: victory party Gerindra and figure of Prabowo, the image of the actor, and a solid team to win. Keywords: Legislative Elections, Candidates Elected, Generra DPC, Winning Strategies, Habitus, Capital, The Realm Of The Actor

Abstract

This study took the title "Critical Discourse Analysis Pagelaran Wayang Kulit in Lakon "Petruk Dadi Ratu". This issued is a discourse that emerged from the shadow puppet Lakon Petruk Dadi Ratu. The purpose of this study was to determine the discourse of Lakon Petruk Dadi Ratu and why the discourse has a structure in such a way. Petruk Dadi Ratu is lakon carangan whose existence is played as a different opera and beyond pakemisasi pagelaran during the wayang kulit. The plot is lifted with a different feel and play with the new way of delivering mastermind who uses improvisation in the plot, according to his trademark. That's because the pattern of political and protest in the Lakon. One of them can be seen in the Lakon "Petruk  Dadi  Ratu".  The  play  is  an  improvised  play  where  puppeteers  give something more current and in accordance with the realities of life as a form of socio-political critique of what is going on in the current government.   Existence  pagelaran  puppet  puppeteer  with  skin  and  attitudes  provide moral  and  political  messages  interesting  to  study  through  critical  discourse analysis  approach.  This  study  uses  Critical  Discourse  Analysis  by  Norman Fairclough model approach. The data were analyzed in three dimensions, the dimension text, dimension discourse practices, and sociocultural dimensions. This study also uses Foucault's theory to see how the shadow puppets as a form of knowledge and power in a critical discourse analysis.  After analyzing the data obtained resulted in a change in the puppet world pakemisasi the other side in a leather puppet pagelaran. This was due to the progress of time to pack art and ideology became more interesting shadow play and can maintain its existence.
