Abstract

Waiheru is a coastal village of Ambon city, it has mangroves forest about 11,3925 acres. The existing of mangrove ecosystem provide functions and benefit to the people in its area. But in taking benefit from  the  ecosystem,  people  percept  that  mangrove  forest  is  had  by  public  and  they  can  explore  it uncontrolled and regardless the sustainability. Consequently, destruction of mangrove forest cannot be avoided  and  cause  abrasi,  decreasing  production,  productivity  and  income  of  fisherman,  even  the decreasing of biodiversity in the area. The research is aimed to analyze economy value of mangrove forest  ecosystem  of  Waiheru,  Ambon  city.  Collecting  data  by  using  observation  and  interview,  also from secondary data. Data analyzing data based on natural resources concept or environment concept according to Suparmoko (2002), and Reuitenbeek (1991). Research result shows (1) Direct benefit of mangrove forest that is taken by people of it area consist of 10 kinds of benefits, they are: fireforest, fish, shell, crabs, shrimp, eel, soa-soa, snake, orchid, and drugs. (2) Total economic value of mangrove forest    is  285.543.161  rupiah/year,  consist  of  direct  benefit  value  16.362.912  rupiah/year,  indirect benefit  261.968.211  rupiah/year,  benefit  of  existing 5.508.973  rupiah/year,  and  choice  benefit  is 1.703.065 rupiah/year. Keywords: Economic valuation, mangrove forest ecosystem, Waiheru village.
