Abstract

Kasus obesitas pada anak menjadi masalah kesehatan yang serius. Obesitas pada anak berdampak terhadap risiko obesitas saat dewasa dan menderita penyakit tidak menular pada usia muda, seperti penyakit diabetes dan kardiovaskuler. Upaya pencegahan obesitas sangat mungkin untuk memanfaatkan teknologi. Peneliti mulai melaksanakan pencarian artikel pada Bulan Oktober sampai Desember 2019 untuk mengidentifikasi artikel jurnal penelitian yang telah ada mengenai mobile health dan anak obesitas. Seluruh artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi sebanyak 7 artikel. Penggunaan mHealth pada kasus obesitas dinilai kurang efektif dan tidak signifikan terhadap kondisi fisik anak dan remaja (BB, BMI, FMI, triceps and subscavula thickness). Akan tetapi, dinyatakan efektif secara signifikan terhadap asupan makan minum, persepsi dan gaya hidup anak dan ibu sehat ataupun obesitas. Maka, tenaga kesehatan dapat memanfaatkan mHealth untuk upaya pencegahan obesitas pada anak supaya mengontrol asupan makan dan minum, secara pribadi atau bantuan orang tua.

Abstract

Background: Endotracheal tube (ETT) insertion is a common therapy for critically ill children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Medical adhesives used to secure the ETT may compromise skin integrity, leading to medical adhesive-related skin injury (MARSI). Preventive strategies are needed to reduce the risk of MARSI in pediatric patients. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of hydrocolloid prophylaxis in preventing MARSI in children with ETT in the intensive care unit. Methods: A one-shot case study design was used involving 15 pediatric patients with ETT in the intensive care unit. Hydrocolloid prophylaxis was applied to prevent skin injury caused by medical adhesives. Data were analyzed to determine the occurrence of MARSI after the intervention. Results: The findings showed that only two out of 15 respondents experienced MARSI, with a statistically significant result (p = 0.001; p < 0.05). Conclusion: Hydrocolloid prophylaxis was effective in preventing MARSI in children with ETT. The use of this prophylactic intervention is recommended for implementation by nurses in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Abstract

Premature birth poses significant health challenges with implications of low birth weight in infants. Infant massage intervention by mothers shows potential in enhancing weight gain in premature infants and improving their neurological and emotional development. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of such interventions in promoting holistic growth in premature infants.Objective: This article aims to investigate the effectiveness of infant massage intervention involving mothers in enhancing weight gain in premature infants.Methods: This study employed a systematic review method. A search in the PubMed, Science Direct, Sage Journals, Scopus, Taylor & Francis, Proquest, Clinical Key to retrieve randomized controlled trial of premature infants receiving massage therapy by mother impact of weight gain on infant premature. The registration number was CRD42024622719.Results: Of 883 record article retrieved, 5 RCTs with 406 participans were included. Literature studies indicate that infant massage involving mothers has beneficial effects on premature infants, such as calorie intake, head circumference, body length, nerve development, length of stay (LOS), and sepsis incidence in premature infants. Massage therapy by the baby's mother also did not have any side effects or cause complaints, and no secondary effects were found.Conclusion: Infant massage by mothers is an effective intervention in enhancing weight gain in premature infants. Involving parents in the care of premature infants through interventions like this can provide significant benefits for the well-being and development of premature infants.

Abstract

Background: Fatigue is one of the most common non-specific symptoms experienced by children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), yet it often goes unnoticed by clinicians. It can affect quality of life, learning ability, and engagement in daily activities. Fatigue in T1DM patients is not only related to glycemic control, but is also influenced by a complex range of physical, psychological and social determinants. A comprehensive understanding of the factors that contribute to fatigue in this population is essential for the development of more effective and holistic intervention strategies. Purpose: To determine fatigue among children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Method: A systematic review with article selection guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The article search was conducted systematically using the keywords: “Child” AND “Children” AND “Adolescent” AND “Adolescence” AND “Teenagers” AND “Diabetes Mellitus Type 1” AND “Type 1 Diabetes” AND “IDDM” AND “Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus” AND “Juvenile Onset Diabetes” AND “Psychosocial Problem” AND “Psychosocial Support System” AND “Psychological Support System” AND “Social Support System”. This study is registered on PROSPERO (CRD42024618445). Results: Aside from anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders, other psychosocial issues—specifically self-management difficulties—are also observed in children with T1DM. These challenges are often associated with fatigue, which can negatively affect a child's motivation, focus, and ability to consistently carry out essential diabetes care tasks such as taking insulin, monitoring blood sugar levels, managing diet, and engaging in physical activity. Conclusion: The findings related to fatigue as a psychosocial issue may offer evidence-based support for the early identification and intervention of psychosocial challenges in children and adolescents with T1DM.

Abstract

Background: Children undergoing invasive procedures in hospitals, such as IV insertion or injection, often experience significant pain and anxiety, especially in critically ill children. Non-pharmacological interventions such as parental holding have been studied as an effective approach in reducing children's pain responses during procedures. Purpose: To analyze the scientific evidence regarding the role of parental holding in pain management in children during invasive procedures, including in critically ill children. Method: A search was conducted through PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases following PRISMA guidelines. Inclusion criteria included RCT design, population of children undergoing invasive procedures, parental holding intervention, and outcomes in the form of pain intensity and/or anxiety. A total of 1,324 articles were identified, while 8 studies met the criteria and were analyzed narratively. Results: Showed that parental holding is effective in reducing children's pain and anxiety, as well as increasing emotional comfort for both children and parents. Despite its proven benefits, implementation of this intervention is still limited in clinical practice and lacks standardized guidelines, especially in pediatric intensive care units. Conclusion: Parental hugs have been shown to be effective in reducing procedural pain in infants and children during invasive procedures.
