Abstract

Research has been conducted on the synthesis of triacetin from glycerol and acetate acid by the modify of natural zeolite catalyst with sulfuric acid 6N and followed by the characterization of the results of the reaction. Modified natural zeolite followed by an analysis of infrared spectrophotometry and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The characterization showed that modified natural zeolite has mordenite characteristics. The concentration of modified zeolite used is 3, 5, and 7% by weight of acetate acid as its reactant. Data processing used is one-way variation analysis and its characteristics seen in the physical-chemical test, followed by an analysis of gas chromatography-mass spectroscopic (GCMS) and infrared spectrophotometry. Based on the results of data processing, the concentrations of modified zeolite 3, 5, and 7% did not affect the yield of triacetin esterification reactions, the results respectively were 75,2881%, 71,9681%, and 69,0431%. The characterization results show that the physical-chemical properties of the reaction such as density, viscosity, and solubility are not following Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) of triacetin. The results of the GCMS analysis showed that there were two peaks with their respective fragments and the results of the infrared spectrophotometric analysis showed the presence of functional groups absorption for ester compounds.

Abstract

Blended learning is mixed learning, namely online and face-to-face learning. Because it is still during the Covid-19 pandemic, learning is currently still being carried out online. To support the online learning process, the Zoom Cloud Meeting application is used. The learning process can also be carried out offline but in accordance with the protocol from the government. This study aims to determine student learning outcomes after being given treatment can exceed the KKM value. The study used an experiment with a one shoot case study research design. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Tutuyan for the academic year 2020/2021 with 29 students in class X MIA 1. The data collection technique was a posttest and the instrument used to measure learning outcomes was a multiple choice test. The results of this study used the t-test one sample t-test with the results of ttable 1.701 and tcount 28.8476 with a significant level of 5% and therefore ttable was smaller than tcount. Thus, it means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. So it was concluded that student learning outcomes after being given treatment can increase and exceed the KKM value.

Abstract

Abstract

Research on compounds from liquid smoke resulting from the pyrolysis of used tire waste has been conducted. The results of tire pyrolysis produce liquid hydrocarbons and charcoal which can be utilized and developed into more useful materials or finished goods. This study aims to identify the compound components of liquid smoke resulting from the pyrolysis of used tire waste. The research begins with manufacturing a pyrolysis tool based on the principle of dry distillation. The pyrolysis process is carried out by heating at high temperatures. Liquid smoke analysis was carried out using GC-MS. In contrast, the components of the compound were identified and characterized by comparing the mass spectrum data obtained with the mass spectrum data in the GC-MS library. The results showed that the pyrolysis of 6 kg of used tires produced 1500 mL of liquid smoke. Analysis of liquid smoke by GC-MS produced 88 chromatogram peaks, with the most dominant peak height at peaks 3, 17, 37, 38, 72, and 73. The most dominant compound component identified by MS spectrum analysis is 2-propanone (peak 3), 4-methyl-2-pentanone (peak 17), ethyl-benzene (peak 37), 1,2-dimethyl-benzene (peak 38), 1-methyl-4-(1-methyl ethyl)-benzene (peak 72) and limonene (peak 73).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze liquid smoke's chemical content and antioxidant activity from pyrolysis of nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) shell with rotary evaporator purification. A rotary evaporator purified liquid smoke from the pyrolysis of nutmeg shells. Identification of the chemical components of liquid smoke from the pyrolysis of nutmeg shells was carried out by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS), and Antioxidants were measured using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method with absorbance at a wavelength of λ 517 nm. The results of GC-MS analysis showed 14 peaks and 19 types of compounds detected with the 2-methylphenol compound component located at a retention time of 4.974 minutes, standing out with the largest contribution in terms of area, reaching 47.74%. The antioxidant test showed that the nutmeg shell has IC50 values before and after rotary evaporation of 0.40% and 0.07%, having strong antioxidant activity, and the results at a concentration of 3.2 mg/ml provided a level of free radical protection of more than 50%, namely 91.14%. The main compounds that play as antioxidants are phenol compounds and their derivatives, such as 2-methoxy-phenol and 2-methoxy-4-methyl-phenol.

Abstract

The independent curriculum is a new breakthrough program provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture Nadiem Makariem to provide learning freedom to students and teachers in determining the learning process they are interested in. The independent curriculum is a form of improvement from the previous curriculum, namely curriculum 13 (K13). As a new education system, it must have changes in the education process compared to the previous curriculum. This has led to different positive and negative responses from teachers. For this reason, researchers are interested in describing how the perceptions of teachers, especially chemistry teachers, regarding the implementation of the independent curriculum at SMA Negeri 9 Manado. This research was conducted offline by distributing printout questionnaires to 6 chemistry teachers at SMA Negeri 9 Manado. The questionnaire in this study was analyzed using a Likert scale. The results showed that the perception of chemistry teachers regarding the implementation of the independent curriculum was classified as a good category with a percentage of 71%. Teachers agree and even strongly agree on the concept of freedom of learning which focuses on changing student character. The teachers also agree with the concept of freedom of learning offered in the independent curriculum, because students and teachers are free to choose learning media, as well as the concept of independent learning by students with a learning system that can be accessed anywhere and anytime by students. They also disagreed that character surveys for graduation requirements could
