Abstract

The inclusive interpretation of religious texts will contribute to the development of plural and multicultural theological perspective rather than develop anexclusive and closed theology. There is a lot of momentum which can serve as a point of departure for developing multicultural theology in Indonesia when humanitarian issues are faced by so many believers, especially the Muslims, such as floods, earthquakes, landslides, and ignorance that continue to haunt the entire country rather than busy interfering with other people’s faith. Judging by very diverse field conditions, there is a final note regarding multiculturalism in the context of Islam in Indonesia. There are internal and external problems that affect religious understanding in this country. The internal factors are the existence of a highly diverse understanding, from moderate, progressive to conservative, thus influencing each other’s understanding of the Indonesian Muslims. The internal factor cannot be underestimated for it is perceived to be influential in the community, so it has to be an understanding that is able to push the development of multiculturalism and pluralism in Indonesia. Meanwhile the external factors should also get attention in this study. Keywords: Islam, perspective, multiculturalism, and Indonesia.

Abstract

Social media is currently taking on a role as a mobilizing, organizing, and communication tool for social protest movements. Social media platforms facilitate content creation, an emotional and motivational exchange to support and oppose protest activities. Social media can increase protest participation, such as hashtags through Twitter. A negative emotional sentiment triggers the hashtag to become a trending topic in Indonesia. It started with the Environment and Forestry minister’s tweet about development and deforestation, making the public react by raising the hashtag #mositidakpercaya. This study explores the vote of no confidence and the correlation of narrative in the hashtag using a qualitative research method with Q-DAS NVivo 12 Plus analysis. The research data source was obtained from Twitter by capturing the hashtag #mositidakpercaya with supporting data from online media, journal literature, and books. The findings showed that miscommunication and the failure to understand the discussed context were conveyed.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the Zero Inorganic Waste policy enacted by the Yogyakarta City Government, focusing on waste sorting strategies, infrastructure support, and challenges encountered in managing inorganic waste. The qualitative methodology involves field observations, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions with various stakeholders. The research findings indicate that while this policy has successfully raised public awareness about waste separation, significant challenges remain, such as low public participation, limited infrastructure, and insufficient education efforts. Therefore, the government must increase resource allocation for waste management infrastructure and develop more effective educational programs to encourage behavioral change. This study’s contribution to urban waste management literature lies in its emphasis on the importance of a participatory and systematic approach to waste management and the need for public behavioral change to achieve sustainability goals. The conclusions of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners in formulating more effective waste management strategies in Yogyakarta and other urban areas. This research also offers substantial theoretical contributions, particularly regarding the importance of participatory and systematic approaches in urban waste management and the necessity for societal behavioral changes to achieve sustainability objectives.

Abstract

In the Regional Head Election of Merauke Regency, there was a contestation between tribes to win the candidate. In this contestation, there was a conflict between ethnic groups, namely the indigenous Papuans and migrants. This study aims to discuss the political struggle of the Merauke Regency to get political support through entities. This study uses an analytical approach to research from several emerging factors such as ethnicity. Data collection was obtained from online media reporting writers, interview websites, and research reports. This study found that identity cannot be separated in the Merauke district, where politics is considered to have its positives and negatives. The positive is to ensure that ethnic immigrants in the Merauke district respect indigenous peoples as owners of territory. The negative is that there is no right to become regent for the immigrant tribes in the Merauke district even though they have fulfilled the requirements as a leader. There are no rules regarding who has the right to lead in special autonomy in the Papua region. This case raises many things related to Papuans in Indonesia in particular.
