Abstract

ABSTRAK. Pengkajian ini bertujuan mencari alternatif sumber air lain pengganti air destilasi dalam pembuatan media perbanyakan mikro pisang Barangan dan stroberi. Waktu pelaksanaan pengkajian untuk pisang Barangan dilakukan Maret sampai Juni 2004 dan pada stroberi dilakukan pada Juli sampai September 2004. Sumber air untuk media yang dikaji ialah aquades, Air PDAM, air sumur jernih, air sumur kuning, air hulu sungai Sembahe, air hilir sungai di Medan, air hujan, air minum isi ulang, dan air kolam ikan. Masing-masing penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap. Pengkajian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan Dinas Pertanian Provinsi Sumatera Utara, Medan. Media dasar yang digunakan ialah media MS. Eksperimen menggunakan rancangan RBD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subsitusi aquades dengan air hujan, air sumur jernih, dan air minum isi ulang dapat digunakan untuk perbanyakan mikro plantlet pisang Barangan, dan stroberi secara in vitro.ABSTRACT. The objective of this assessment was to determine the alternative of water resources in order to substitute distilled water in media preparation for micro multiplication of Barangan banana and strawberry. The assessment conducted for Barangan banana was on March thru June 2004 and for strawberry was on July thru September 2004 in tissue culture laboratory of North Sumatera Agriculture Service. The sources of water for media preparation to be assessed were distilled water, water from PDAM, clean water from well, brown to yellow color of water from well, upstream water in Sembahe, downstream water in Medan, rain water, mineral water, and fish pond water. Basal media used was MS media. The experimental design used was a complete randomized design. The result showed that rain water, clean water from well, and mineral water can substitute distilled water for micropropagation of plantlet Barangan banana and strawberry.

Abstract

Participatory action research by using high quality of potato seed was implemented by puposively in Partibi Lama, Sub District Merek, Karo District, North Sumatera in 2008. The objective is to facilitate of Partibi Lama’s farmers activities to do participatory action research by using high quality of potato seed to develop collaborative net working among groups and outsiders. It was used participatory approarch. It started with Farming System Analysis (FSA) in order to identify the main crop, farmer’s technology, and the constraints. Participatory action research for potato crop is one of the farmer priority. The base problem was low productivity cause of lack quality of potato seed. Farmer cooperator was selected by some criteria. Participatory action research based on colaborative the depth knowledge of researcher and farmer experience and economy capacity. Results of participatory action research indicated that yield was higher 8 t/ha than conventional seed and farmer got more benefit, Rp.40 million/ha. Participatory action research was successed to prove the benefit of the innovation. The impact there were three farmers group planned and done to produced potato seed by themselves. They made comparative study, training with used learning by doing method by using their own budget. Kegiatan riset aksi partispatif penggunaan bibit kentang bermutu dipilih secara sengaja di Desa Partibi Lama, Kecamatan Merek Kabupaten Karo, Sumatera Utara, pada tahun 2008. Tujuan kegiatan ialah untuk memfasilitasi masyarakat tani Desa Partibi Lama, Kecamatan Merek, Kabupaten Karo dalam melakukan riset aksi partisipatif penggunaan bibit kentang bermutu dalam mewujudkan jejaring kerjasama kelompok dengan pihak luar yang terkait. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif. Kegiatan Farming System Analysis (FSA) mengawali kegiatan ini, guna mengidentifikasi komoditas utama yang ditangani, keragaan teknologi dan permasalahan yang muncul. Riset aksi partispatif pada tanaman kentang muncul dengan pokok masalah produktivitas rendah, yang disebabkan sulit tersedianya bibit bermutu. Petani kooperator yang dipilih mempunyai kriteria sendiri. Pelaksanaan di lapang bertumpu pada penggabungan tingkat pengetahuan peneliti dan pengalaman serta kemampuan ekonomi petani. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa produksi kentang G4 lebih tinggi 8 t/ha dari penggunaan bibit konvensional, dengan nilai tambah berkisar Rp.40 juta/ha. Riset aksi partisipatif berhasil membuktikan keunggulan dan manfaat inovasi. Akibatnya ialah tiga kelompok tani lainnya merencanakan dan melaksanakan usaha produksi bibit kentang bermutu dengan biaya sendiri. Studi banding, pelatihan dengan metoda learning by doing yang diminta petani dibiayai oleh petani sendiri.

Abstract

Cultivation and Analysis of Barangan Banana Farm Operations in Deli Serdang Regency North Sumatra. Red Barangan banana is one of the cultivar kinds mostly cultivated in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The aim of this study was to obtain the characteristics of barangan banana cultivation technology and to analyze the banana farm operations. This is necessary as an evaluation for an improvement in order to increase the income of Barangan banana farmers in Deli Serdang. The research was conducted in two villages namely Talun Kenas and Siguci, STM Hilir Sub-district, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra Province from April to June 2008 by using a survey method and direct observation at the banana area. The primary data were collected by interviewing farmers managing the banana plants, while the secondary data were collected from related institutions. The results show that the farmers have sufficiently been efficient in managing the agricultural land by implementing multi-cropping. However, the technology for banana cultivation still needs improvement by optimizing the use of organic and inorganic fertilizers, plant maintenance, especially in the provision of healthy Barangan banana seeds. Barangan banana farming system provides profit with a B/C 1.1.Key words: Musa paradisiaca, characteristic, technology and farming systemABSTRAKPisang Barangan Merah adalah salah satu jenis kultivar yang paling banyak dibudidayakan di Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara. Tujuan pengkajian ini yaitu untuk mendapatkan karakteristik teknologi budidaya pisang barangan dan analisis usahatani tdari pisang tersebut. Pengkajian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Talun Kenas dan Siguci Kecamatan STM Hilir Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Provinsi Sumatera Utara dimulai April sampai Juni 2008 dengan metode survei dan pengamatan langsung ke lahan Pisang. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan petani yang mengusahakan tanaman pisang. Data sekunder diperoleh dari lembaga terkait. Hasil pengkajian menunjukan bahwa petani telah cukup efien dalam mengkelola lahan pertanian dengan menanam tanaman lain secara tumpangsari. Teknologi budidaya tanaman pisang, masih memerlukan perbaikan dengan mengoptimalkan penggunaan pupuk organik, pupuk anorganik, perawatan tanaman, serta yang terutama ialah penyediaan bibit sehat pisang barangan. Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) There are several social capitals owned by farmer groups in supporting the development of highland peatland agricultural areas in Dolok Sanggul District. (2) Measuring the level of social capital of farmer groups on highland peatlands in Dolok Sanggul District. (3) Analyzing the relationship between social capital and the development of agricultural areas in the Upland Peatlands in Dolok Sanggul District. The research method used is the interpretation of the logistic regression model to explain the functional relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable and to define the unit of change in the dependent variable caused by the independent variable. The results of the research obtained that social capital for farmers who manage agricultural land in Dolok Sanggul District includes two interrelated categories, namely the structural category which includes social relations and solidarity, and the cognitive category which includes health, norms, trust and cooperation. Overall the average level of social capital of farmers in the peatlands of Dolok Sanggul District is 70.45% or moderate (>50-75%), where the level of social capital for social relations (75.9%), solidarity (76.1% ), and cooperation (76.5%) included in the high level of social capital (75-100%), while the level of social capital for health (74.3%), norms (64.2%) and trust (55.7%) ) is included in the moderate level of social capital (50-75%). The results of the analysis show that the relationship variable has a significant effect on increasing farmers' income on peatlands in Dolok Sanggul District. Likewise with social relations, the better the social relations between farmers, the higher the opportunity to increase farmers' income.
