Abstract

This study aims to identify the morphological characteristics of the types of andaliman plants (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) in several villages in Dolog Masagal District, Simalungun Regency. This research was conducted in Bittang Village, Tambun Marisi Village, Raya Usang Village, and Gotting Village from February to April 2022. These villages were chosen as research areas because several of these villages are Andaliman producing villages in Dolog Masagal District. This study uses a survey method with the guide of the IPGRI and UPGMA reliable descriptor. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Parameters observed were plant height, stem circumference, crown shape, stem color, leaf shape, leaf length, leaf width, leaf color, leaf edge, leaf surface, thorn shape, thorn color, thorn length, flower color, flower position, number petals, petal color, anther color, fruit diameter, fruit weight, young fruit color, old fruit color, fruit shape, fruit taste, fruit aroma, number of fruits per bunch, number of seeds, seed shape, seed surface, color young seeds and the color of old seeds. The results showed that Sihorbo's andaliman had distinctive characteristics, namely large fruit, coarse hair on the leaf surface compared to the coarse Simanuk leaf surface, and low production; whereas Simanuk's andaliman has the characteristics of small fruit, sharper taste and aroma than Sihorbo, fruit sticking more to the stem than Sihorbo and high production.

Abstract

Today, many institutions and individuals are paying attention to the development of technologies used in sustainable agriculture.  One of the technologies is eco-enzyme that can be used as organic fertilizer.  Several researchers have studied the use of eco-enzymes in agriculture, but studies on the nutrient content of eco-enzymes are still very limited. This research was conducted to investigate the nutrient content of two eco-enzyme preparations. The eco-enzymes were produced through the fermentation process of water, fruit peels, and molasses with a weight ratio of 10 : 3 : 1. Fruit peels used for Eco-enzyme A were banana, melon, watermelon, orange, and pineapple peels, while for Eco-enzyme B were banana, mango, watermelon, orange, and pineapple peels. The fermentation period for Eco-enzyme A was seven months, while for Eco-enzyme B was eight months. The results of the analysis showed that the two eco-enzymes contained various nutrients, both macro (C, N, P, K, Mg, Ca) and micro (Mn, Zn, B, Fe, Cu) ones, that were consistently higher in Eco-enzyme A. Both eco-enzymes were acidic, where the pH of Eco-enzyme A and B were 3.95 and 3.50, respectively. The data obtained were expected to be a basic reference for further research on eco-enzymes.

Abstract

Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) adalah tanaman rempah liar yang dijumpai di Sumatera Utara. Benihandaliman sulit berkecambah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari perkecambahan benih andaliman dan pematahandormansi benih andaliman. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas enam perlakuan, yaitu: 1) benih tanpa perlakuan pematahan dormansi sebagai kontrol; 2) benihdirendam  dengan  air  hangat  60 C  dan  dibiarkan  hingga  dingin  selama 24 jam; 3) benih direndam dengan air hangat60 ooC dan dibiarkan hingga dingin selama 24 jam dan air diganti; 4) benih direndam KNO3 0.6 g L selama 24 jam; 5)  benihdirendam KNO3 0.6 g L-1 selama 24 jam dan larutan diganti; 6) benih direndam KNO3 1 g L-1-1 selama 24 jam dan larutandiganti. Perkecambahan benih andaliman relatif lama dan bervariasi, berkisar 21-99 hari setelah pengecambahan (HSP). Laju perkecambahan  benih andaliman tertinggi terjadi pada 40-90 HSP, dan menurun setelah itu. Perlakuan pematahandormansi tidak  meningkatkan persentase perkecambahan dan tidak mempercepat perkecambahan benih andaliman.Perlakuan benih disiram dengan air hangat 60 C dan  dibiarkan hingga dingin selama 24 jam, dan air diganti menghasilkanpersen perkecambahan 36.25%  pada 63.31 HSP sehingga potensial meningkatkan daya berkecambah  benih andaliman.Kata kunci: KNO3o, perlakuan benih, perkecambahan, rempah
