Abstract

In the last few decades, the chemistry of organotin (IV) complexes of many biologically important compounds, has received significant interest in the preparation, identification and application of organotin units which are employed as photo-stabilizers, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and fire retardants. Biological properties of the system are modified by changing the organic ligands in organotin(IV) complexes. Using organotin (IV) materials in medications has brought significant attention by researchers recently. This is due to these compounds have demonstrated an excellent biological activity as well as organotin (IV) compounds are considers as anti-oxidant molecules as they work free radical scavengers. On the other hand, organotin (IV) complexes were used as photo-stabilizers for different types of plastic polymers. In this paper will review the most important potential work using organotin (IV) in both medicine and industrial applications.

Abstract

Three organotin (IV) complexes with different R-groups were used as additives for PVC. The photo-degradation rate constant of poly (vinyl chloride) upon irradiation with an ultraviolet light were investigated in the presence of Organotin(IV) complexes as photo stabilizers. Poly (vinyl chloride) photo-degradation rate constant was lower for the films containing Organotin (IV) complexes (5.6-1.5 × 10-3 sec-1) compared to the blank film (9.0 × 10-3 sec-1).Keywords: Organotin(IV), Photo stabilizers, UV irradiation, Poly(vinyl chloride), Photo degradation rate constant (kd).

Abstract

The fabrication of porous dibutylorganotin (IV) complex as methane storage was successful. Interesting physiochemical properties for diorganotin (IV) complex were observed using a combination of several techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller and nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherm, Barrett–Joyner–Halenda and H-sorb 2600 analyzer. The mesoporous complex exhibit tunable porosity with Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area (SABET = 130.357 m2.g-1), pore volume (0.162 cm3.g–1) and narrow pore size distribution; the complex was found to has high physico-chemical stability. At 323 K and 50 bars, the complex has methane uptake (up to 1.116 cm3·g–1). The field emission scanning electron microscopy images, at different 100 and 50 µm magnification powers were confirmed, the morphological images of the polymeric film showed a rough surface.  Keywords: Gas storage; Methane capture; Diorganotin (IV) complex; Field emission scanning electronic microscope.
