Abstract

In Political Sociological perspective, Nahdlatul Wathan is not only present in religious narration of Sasak Community but also has been able to build social structure with certain typical characteristics. Putting Islamic fundamentals, nationality, and NW-ism, the social structure of NW citizens reflects more the communal community, the one with high social interaction intensity and religious character. In its development, the dynamics of Nahdlatul Wathan community in communal dimension reflects a complex power relation, not only in “piety” classification and teacher-student relation but also shifting to education and intellectuality levels, resource ownership, family hegemony, and territorial egocentrism. This article will address the interaction pattern built within NW Anjani-affiliated community and power relation developing within it. This study employed structural-functional theory to read structure and system running, and power-relations theory to read the power developing in the social structure. This study describes that NW Anjani has a variety of basic values remaining to be held on tightly by its citizen as social capital and social interaction glue. The dynamics of NW Anjani community also reveals strong and functional power relation and gives significant implication to the citizen community wholeness. However, the shift of paradigm and social action of most NW Anjani citizens remains to be apparent from communal toward-non communal community, and from authoritative power relation toward symbolic authority resistance.

Abstract

This article will analyze the concept of scientific integration-interconnection and internalization or the “Horizon Ilmu” in the Islamic State University of Mataram. This study formulates the implementation model on the curriculum of PPI Department. This article aims to combine Karl Popper's falsification theory, and the theory of paradigm revolution by Tomas Kuhn, with Ian Barbour's theory about the integration between religion and science. As an additional theory on this subject, author use amin abdullah's theory of integration-interconnection. This study uses interpretive approach, that Focuses on the ideas and the spirit and the implementation method that construct the political theory. This study describes conclusions. First, the PPI' s model of Horizon Ilmu, consist two fundamental discourses: the Islamic political thought represented by al-Madinah al-Fadhilah, and the western political science represented by democracy. Second, These two fundamentals then emulsified with the classical islamic scientific tradition. Third, PPI’s characteristic of Horizon Ilmu can be actualized through the reciprocal relation between these two fundamentals discourses in order to build the new academic traditions in the Islamic political thought department.

Abstract

Nahdlatul Wathan has three charitable enterprises (Amal Usaha) as its institutional central movement: education, social, and dakwah Islamiyah fields. Out of the three central movements, social field is interpreted most widely as the principle of justification for practical political development undertaken by Nahdlatul Wathan. Nahdlatul Wathan still develops its organizations consistently, including practical political domain until today. NW has encountered internal problem related to leadership dualism since 1998 until today: Anjani and Pancor versions. Dualism problem widens political dynamic of NW, particularly in NTB, with their own constructed direction and political development. This article discussed political dynamic of Anjani-version Nahdlatul Wathan in considering rational choice aspect of NTB community members. The dynamic was analyzed using rational choice theory as the primary theory, in addition to practical opportunity theory, framing process and resource mobilization as the reading instrument in analyzing the mechanism and procedure of succession taken by Nahdlatul Wathan. This study described that Nahdlatul Wathan Anjani has not maximized fully the political policy yet based on rational choice aspect of citizens, thereby affecting the objectivity of its political analysis in seeing opportunity structure, succession technique packaging, and political resource distribution.
