Abstract

Water is very important for industrial activities, industrial water needs is divided into two parts as production and non-production (sanitation hygiene workers) sanitation, therefore clean water must meet the physical, chemical, and bacteriological qualities to meet the requirements. Quality of bacteriology of clean water at PT. Trisula Textile Industries is not eligible because Escherichia coli 4-46 colony / 100ml sample indicates exceeds NAB. For that need to do water treatment by disinfection, disinfection used is UV-C wavelength 254 nm because it is most effective in killing Escherichia coli bacteria. The treatment in this study used variation of exposure time 10 seconds, 20 seconds, and 30 seconds, aiming to know the difference of time duration of UV-C UV disinfection exposure on clean water to decrease the amount of Escherichia coli. The type of research used is pretest-postest by using non-production water samples from all non-production water populations of PT. Trisula Textile Industries. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Based on the results of UV-C light exposure research with 10 seconds duration decreased 77.17% Escherichia coli, 20 seconds experienced lowered 82.36%, and 30 seconds decreased 98.69%. Optimal results achieved decreased 98.69% Escherichia coli with 30 seconds exposure.
