Abstract

The article discusses the importance of positive parenting during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the context of early childhood online learning from home. This study aims to provide empirical data on the implementation of positive parenting in Bandung City, Indonesia, during the learning from home program in early childhood families. The study employs qualitative methods with a case study approach and descriptive data analysis. The data for this study were obtained through direct interviews with the study's subjects, namely the parents of two children aged 5 and 6 years old. The results showed that positive parenting at home is done by enforcing certain principles without easing the child's load. Positive parenting is imparted to children based on regular routines, and the implementation of positive parenting during home learning is by establishing family-wide norms. The study highlights the importance of providing parents with support and education to help them develop positive parenting skills, which is especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic. Positive parenting can help create a nurturing environment that supports a child's emotional and social development and reduces negative behaviors such as aggression and delinquency.

This study aims to assess the impact of an experiential learning based training on organic food cultivation in increasing family food security, while also exploring the potential for behavior change and economic resilience. Employing a qualitative research design, the study used case study method. Participants engaged in an experiential learning program designed to impart skills and knowledge in organic food cultivation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation study, and analyzed using thematic analysis triangulation. The findings highlight the participants' evolving perceptions of the link between organic food cultivation and family food security within the unique urban environment. The training resulted in shifts in consumption patterns and dietary habits within families, fostering healthier choices. Furthermore, the cultivation of organic produce contributed to family finances, reducing expenditure on purchased produce. The study underscores the impact of experiential learning in fostering practical skills and behavior change in an urban community setting. The research contributes to the understanding of how experiential learning interventions can positively influence family food security within specific urban localities. This study suggests that integrating experiential learning approaches into training initiatives can empower urban families to cultivate their own organic produce.

Abstract

This study examined the implementation of child-centered learning principles by the parents of TK Al Muthmainnah students, their knowledge of these principles, and the challenges they faced. A qualitative case study method was adopted, with ten parents participating as primary informants. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The analysis revealed that parents possessed a foundational understanding of child-centered learning, viewing it as a way to foster autonomy and cater to their children's interests. They applied these principles at home by allowing children to make choices and encouraging exploration. However, they encountered challenges such as limited resources and the need for balancing guidance with children's independence. The findings suggest that while parents are inclined towards child-centered practices, the efficacy of these practices is affected by the availability of resources and support

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the strategies and impacts of the Sukabumi Reading Enthusiast Program on fostering community literacy and reading habits within the community. Employing a descriptive method, data were collected through observation, study of the documents and interviews with 25 participants to provide comprehensive insights into the program's effectiveness. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis and triangulation. The findings reveal that the program's structured and habitual activities, such as the weekly Readhaton sessions and daily reading practices before school lessons, significantly enhance reading engagement among participants. These activities, embedded into the school curriculum and supported by community involvement, have led to a notable increase in reading interest and proficiency. The selection of diverse and age-appropriate reading materials, tailored to the needs and preferences of the community, further supports the program's success. Moreover, the program's impact extends beyond immediate participants, fostering a culture of reading that involves families and public spaces. The study highlights the program's success in increasing the number of books read, the time spent reading, and overall participation in community reading activities. These outcomes demonstrate the program's efficacy in promoting literacy, enhancing creative thinking, and developing sustainable reading habits among community members.
