Abstract

The Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education always encourages lecturers to publish their scientific works in open access publications. This study explores the meaning of open access publications from the experiences of UIN lecturers. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to identify the interpretation and meaning of lecturers on open access journal publications. This study found that lecturers know about publishing in open access journals and their advantages. They choose reputable journals in their scientific field as their first reference because the journals that fall into this category have a high level of readability and citation. However, the informants stated that they were also pragmatic; they will reconsider the decision to publish in a reputable and open access journal if the publication fee is deemed too expensive. This study uses Hall's meanings concept, whose application is not only to explore the views of lecturers on open access publications but also to explore the actions they take so that their writings can be included in open access publications. Here, the researcher finds the emerging theme that is the importance of collaboration. It is as a way to overcome barriers to open access publishing and also as the key to the productivity of writing articles in academic journals. This study highlights several important themes related to collaboration. The integration of Islamic knowledge with scientific disciplines is an interesting issue when discussing the benefits of cooperation. The results of this study can provide insight into the meaning of open access journals published by lecturers and how they overcome the barriers in this matter. The researcher suggests using a quantitative approach based on our data for future research.

The method used is explanatory quantitative research with 100 respondents who have used the self-lending platform machine at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. Measurement of research variables to determine the value of technology-based self-service Implementation and library satisfaction using a Likert scale. The data collection technique used was a survey, with data analysis through simple linear regression. The results showed that implementing technology-based self-service at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia was classified as good, with a variable mean value of 3.35, which fell into the very high category (3.25-4.00). In addition, user satisfaction with implementing technology-based self-service is also very high, with an average value of 3.36, which means it falls into the very satisfied category. This study uses quantitative descriptive research methods with survey data collection techniques, namely distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents who are followers of the @schfess Twitter account. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis of the percentage. The results show that there are four types of motives that encourage someone to use social media with the information motive having the highest average value of 3.52 which is included in the "Very High" category, integrity motives and social interaction of 3.09 which are included in the "High" category, entertainment motives of 3.00 which were included in the "High" category, and personal identity motives had the lowest average score of 2.95 which was included in the "High" category. Abstract

This study explores the meaning of two Instagram accounts of Academic Library; the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and the University of Indonesia, focusing on their posts and engagement. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to collect data through semi-structured interviews with librarians who manage the accounts and their users who follow the accounts. Instagram has become a central platform for communication and promotion in academic libraries, as evidenced by the University of Indonesia (UI) and UIN Sunan Kalijaga. They use it to share service-related information, document library activities, and encourage student engagement. UI manages its accounts through a centralized system, while UIN uses a collaborative model. However, both institutions emphasize inter-unit coordination and developing librarians' digital design and public communication skills. Despite its potential, Instagram faces several challenges in the library context. These include limited content diversity, low response rates to direct messages, and inadequate visual design skills among account managers. These limitations hinder the platform's ability to meet students' information needs effectively and diminish its capacity to build emotional connections with users. Furthermore, librarians often perceive Instagram as a formal institutional tool, limiting its communicative flexibility and user-centric appeal. To address this, a more humanistic content strategy combining storytelling, an interactive carousel format, and participatory features is needed. This approach would enable more dynamic, two-way communication, increase user engagement, and strengthen the library's image as an inclusive, responsive, and digitally relevant space within the academic community.
