Abstract

Kata-kata kunci: Superkapasitor, Kapasitansi Spesifik, Laju Scan Abstract Specific capacitance variation of carbon electrode supercapacitor from rubber wood against scan rate have been successfully analyzed. Fabrication of carbon electrode includes cutting, drying carbonization, activation, polishing and neutralization. Activation was carried out in multi-step process covering the physical and chemical activation. Physical activation was performed by using CO2 gas at a temperature of 850 °C for 2 hour, while the chemical activation process was done by combination of 3M KOH and HNO3 using a variation of concentrations as high as 5%, 15% and 25%. Supercapacitor cell measurements was performed using a cyclic voltammetry method at a scan rate of 1 - 100 mV/s in electrolyte solution of 1M H2SO4. The results showed that specific capacitance value decreased with exponentially in the increasing of a scan rate. The highest of specific capacitance values of 81.82 F g-1 and 10.44 F g-1 at a scan rate of 1 mV/s, while at the scan rate of 100 mV/s found the lowest of 19.67 F g-1 and 4.66 F g-1 for HNO3 variation of 25% and 5%, respectively. The SEM data showed that the carbon electrode have a hierarchical pore structure and the ED-X result found that highest percentage of carbon element as high as 92.53% at sample with a variation of 25% HNO3. Abstract

Preparation and characterization of physical properties of carbon electrode from flower of elephant grass has been analyzed with variations in particle size. Production of carbon electrodes was begun with pre-carbonization, grinding with hard grinder, grinding with ball milling and followed by sieving process. Variations in particle size selected of <38 µm milling continued during 20 hours, <38 µm (SB), and 39-52 µm (SC). All of the sample have been activated by chemical activating agent with NaOH at a concentration of 0,4 M. Carbonization process was performed at temperatures of 600˚C in the gas environment N2 and followed by physical activation process by using a CO2 gas at a temperature of 850˚C. Physical parameters such as mass, diameter and thickness of activated carbon electrodes was collected at a condition (i) before carbonization, (ii) after carbonization and (iii) after physical activation to found the density characteristic. The results of density data showed that the sample SA of <38 µm has a density value of 1,103 g/ cm3 , (ii) 0,869 g/cm3, (iii) 0,800 g/cm3, SB (i) 1,083 g/ cm3, (ii) 0,816 g/cm3, (iii) 0,728 g/cm3 and SC (i) 1,072 g/ cm3, (ii) 0,777 g/ cm3 and (iii) 0,599 g/ cm3, respectively. As a conclution, the particle size was varies inversely with the density. As an addition, the crystallographic analysis showed that the particle size is inversely proportional to the Lc value. Abstract

Has successfully analyzed the carbon electrode supercapacitor from rubber wood using cyclic voltammetry method. Making the samples of early stage through the process of cutting, drying, carbonization and polishing to form pellets. Variations activator KOH and HNO3 is used to increase the surface area of the electrode. Variations KOH used was 1 M, 3 M, 5 M HNO3 solution while being used is 25%. Methods of measurement of cyclic voltammetry carried out using a Solatron 1280 with a potential window of 0 to 1 Volt at the scan rate variation 1 mV/s, 5 mV/s, 10 mV/s, 30 mV/s, 50 mV/s and 100 mV/s. From data analized has found that the highest specific capacitance values occur at the rate of induced 1 mV/s for all variations of KOH. The highest specific capacitance value at scan rate 1 mV/s in the variation of KOH 1 M, 3 M, 5 M is at 16,36 F /gram, 68,27 F/gram and 63,24 F/gram. Additional testing was also performed using X-ray diffraction instrument and electron scanning microscope. Keywords : Cyclic Voltammetry, Supercapacitor, Carbon Electrode, Rubber Wood.
