Abstract

On the issue of women as imams, traditional Islamic discourses severely limits the chance of women to be leaders of a prayer, even in cases where the women are clearly the most competent, for reasons that are related to gender. A peculiar new view on such discourse is given; basing itself came from the hadith of Ibnu Waraqqah, it stands as a shahih hadith through an analysis of its sanad and matan. This new view expands the chances for women by allowing them to become imams. Though this view is currently considered deviant, its existence must be publicized as a branch of development of fiqh as a whole.

Abstract

Catatan sejarah ilmu pengetahuan dapat ditelusuri dengan menghitung ribuan tahun sebelum masehi hingga saat ini. Kenyataan historis telah melahirkan konsep-konsep susunan yang luas tentang sifat ilmu pengetahuan. Meskipun di era modern ini, dunia Islam ketinggalan dibandingkan dengan dunia barat. Tetapi didalam historis, Islam telah hadir dengan membawa revolusi yang sangat kuat. Islam tidak pernah mengalami dalam masa keemasan dalam ilmu pengetahuan dan tekhlonologi sementara itu Barat pernah mengalami tentang masa kemunduran dan kegelapan. Dengan cara yang sama, sumber permasalahan dan pengklasifikasian pengetahuan. Hal ini dapat menambahkan semarak dari wacana ilmu pengetahuan di dunia Barat dan Islam. Bagaimanapun, apakah yang telah dihasilkan oleh Barat semata-mata menghasilkan tradisi mereka sendiri? Bagaimanakah Islam memberikan kontribusi dalam hal tersebut? Tulisan ini berupaya untuk meninjau hal tersebut dengan perspektiv historis-sosial dan analisa isi.Recording the history of science can be traced back to thousands of years before Christ until now. Historical necessity gave birth to a wide range of concepts about the nature of science. Although in this modern era, the Islamic world behind compared with the West. But in historical, Islam came with a mighty revolution. Islam never experienced the golden age in science and technology while the West experienced a period of decline or darkness. Similarly, the issue of sources and classification of knowledge. It adds to the splendor of the discourse of science in the West and Islam. However, what the West produced is generated purely from their tradition alone? How Islamic contribution to it? This article attempts to review it with the socio-historical perspective and content analysis.
