Abstract

Tourism industry is lifeline for Thailand as this sector is contributing a lot in country’s GDP. With an increasing flux of tourists, hotel industry is bringing artificial intelligence and robotic awareness in their employees to ensure better performance from all dimensions. Such performance levels are also linked with supply chain agility up to some extent. This paper has aimed to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence and robotic awareness on environmental, operational and economic performance of hotel sector of Thailand. Moreover, mediating role of supply chain agility has also been checked in relationship between the respective empirical linkages. Data was collected from the managing employees of hotel sector of Thailand through a structured instrument and it was then analyzed through confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Results have provided the insight that robotic awareness has significant impact of all three dimensions of performance and supply chain agility significantly mediates these relationships in positive direction. This study is novel due to testing supply chain agility as mediator in robotic awareness and performance linkage and also because of taking operational performance as another dimension of performance which was not tested in prior literature. Implications, limitations and future research indications are also given in this study.

Abstract

Increased global warming and industrial pollution have forced manufacturing organizations in Thailand to focus on sustainable practices. Such practices can come from Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which can contribute towards green environment either directly or indirectly. Supply chain integration can also play its role to bring all stakeholders at same page for ensuring green environment production. This study has investigated the impact of internal, customer and supplier sustainable development goals on environmental performance of manufacturing firms in Thailand. Furthermore, intervening role of supply chain integration has also been analyzed in relationship between SDGs and environmental performance. Data has been collected through questionnaire from middle level management of almost 49 manufacturing firms of Thailand which was subsequently analyzed on SPSS and AMOS for screening and path analysis. Results have confirmed the hypothesis that SGDs have significant impact on environmental performance and also flagged significant mediating role of supply chain integration in respective relationship. This research is original due to having a unique variable like supply chain integration and a completely different context of Thailand’s manufacturing sector which was not explored previously. This study will have its contribution in theory, practice and policy along with future research indications.

Abstract

The main objective of the current study is to investigate the influence of the social capital theory in the relationship between buyer and supplier relationship. The study is of the view that the there are certain managerial implications of social capital in terms of buyer supplier relationships, therefore, considering these, significant resources are invested by the buyers to generate social capital along with its suppliers. Thus, a social capital which is earned after huge efforts may sometimes result in poor decision making, opportunistic behaviors, and loss of objectivity. The study has used the survey-based methodology and examined the manners or the Thai Petro chemical firms Considering a buyer supplier relationship, we attempt to theorize social capital contradiction and empirical evidence is presented for the social capital and performance relationship as a curvilinear relationship at inter-firm level. The results of this research are found to be in line with a few recent researches which examined the impact of this curvilinear relationship at group, network, or individual level. The findings suggest that social capital and performance relationship has an inverted curvilinear relationship. The empirical findings indicate that in case of buyer-supplier collaboration for gaining strategic benefits, more time is consumed for making it to the threshold level, as compared to the case of operational benefits.
