Abstract

THE APPLICATION OF PROBLEM CENTERED LEARNING APPROACH TO ENHANCE THE ABILITY TO THINK LATERAL MATHEMATICAL OF STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Ayen Arsisari, M.Pd Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung Jl. KH. Ahmad Dahlan KM 4 Pangkalanbaru, Ayenarsisari@yahoo.co.id ABSTRACT This research is based on the issues of lowness of lateral thinking ability of junior high school students in mathematical lesson. The purpose of this research is to observe the upgrading of mathematical lateral thinking ability mathematical among students who received PCL (Problem Centered Learning) approach and conventional learning. This research is a research quasi experimental design with a non-control group equivalen using Purposive Sampling Technique which the subject is students in one of junior high school in Bandung, while the samples are students of experimental class which is amounted to 34 students and students of control class which is amounted to 34 students. The instruments that used are the initial mathematics ability test, test of the ability to think laterally mathematical and the sheets of teacher and students observation. Quantitative analysis is carried out using the average difference test and anova test two lines. The results show that (1) The upgrading of mathematical lateral thingking of students who received PCL approch is better than students who just received conventional learning; (2) There is the upgrading difference of mathematical lateral thinking of students who received PCL approachi viewed from the initial mathematics ability (high, middle, low) (3) There is interaction between the learning approach that used (PCL, conventional) with KAM (high, middle, low) and the upgrading mathematical lateral thinking of students;

Abstract

In this digital age the need for renewal in teaching media in the classroom. This research is about developing android-based learning media on the construction of flat side space. The general objective of this research is to develop an Android-based learning media on the material to build a flat side space and see the feasibility of this Android-based teaching media. This research is a development research that is R&D with 4D model. This research was conducted at Sungai Selan 1 Junior High School in Bangka Tengah Regency which was conducted in 2019. The research subjects were Grade VIII students of SMP. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, interviews. As for the results of this study are a) The development of this android teaching media through 4D stages, namely starting to define, design, develop, and disseminate; b) Based on the assessment by material experts obtained a percentage of 93.51% so that it is included in the very feasible category, from experts based on android media teaching media get a value of 88.04%, so that it is included in the very feasible category, based on assessment by practitioners namely junior high school mathematics teachers overall the percentage was 97.58% so that it was included in the very feasible category to be used as a learning medium, on the results of the student test it was found that all questions received a "Positive Response" with a percentage of ≥ 70% with an average of 95.3% were in the very category worthy.
