Abstract

Hypertensive disorders are a common complication of pregnancy that put women and their fetuses at disproportionate risk for further complications, as well as life-long sequelae. Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy affect up to 10% of pregnancies worldwide, which includes the 3%–5% of all pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination of hydrotherapy and the inhalation method of neroli aromatherapy on reducing blood pressure in pregnant women. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design approach. The sample involved was 16 people who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using the paired T-Test. The results showed that there was an effect of the combination of hydrotherapy and the inhalation method of neroli aromatherapy on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in pregnant women. The combination of hydrotherapy and administration of neroli aromatherapy with the inhalation method can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, making it an effective alternative to non-pharmacological therapy for hypertensive patients, especially pregnant women.

Abstract

Free sex behavior is contrary to national culture. However, in fact, based on several research data, it shows that the free sex behavior of teenagers in Indonesia is quite worrying. In Indonesia, there are about 4.5% of boys and 0.7% of girls aged 15-19 years who claim to have had premarital sex. This community service activity is in the form of providing health education through counseling teenagers about free sex behavior. The results obtained from this community activity before the counseling was carried out, the majority of participants' knowledge was in the sufficient category, namely 46%, participants with less knowledge were 37% and only 17% of participants had good knowledge about free sex behavior. Health education about free sex was carried out with the help of power point media, during the activity the participants seemed interested in listening to the counseling given. Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological process that nonetheless carries health risks for both mother and fetus, necessitating proper monitoring and preparation. Such preparation encompasses physical and psychological readiness, family support, the choice of birth location and attendant, transportation, financial planning, potential blood donors, and supplies for both mother and baby. Adequate knowledge regarding birth preparedness enables expectant mothers to recognize danger signs, select appropriate healthcare facilities, meet childbirth requirements, and plan for potential complications, thereby enhancing the safety of both mother and baby. Health education serves as a key strategy to improve expectant mothers' knowledge by providing information that is systematic, easily understood, and tailored to their specific needs. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of health education on expectant mothers' knowledge regarding birth preparedness. A quantitative research method was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. Paired t-test results revealed a significant difference in knowledge scores before and after the education session in the intervention group (p = 0.000), whereas no significant difference was observed in the control group (p = 0.087). Independent t-test results showed a significant difference in posttest scores between the intervention and control groups (p = 0.000), indicating that health education is effective in increasing expectant mothers' knowledge of birth preparedness; consequently, the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. Expectant mothers are encouraged to actively participate in health education sessions, prenatal classes, and antenatal check-ups to enhance their knowledge and readiness for childbirth.
