Abstract

The goal of the article was to develop Mandarin vocabulary teaching material for Indonesian people and foreigners. Teaching material was developed by cutting vocabulary, called Chunk theory. Article clarified Chunk theory, basic strategy of teaching Chunk theory, and the basic idea of teaching Chunk theory; gave opinions and some important factors related to Chunk theory. It can be concluded that there is a significant factor in teaching Chunk theory, that is, a meaning transformation process to different context. It can be more (Chunk Up), less (Chunk Down), and similar (Chunk Laterally).

Abstract

Constructivism theories believe that learning process should be conducted under a specific condition, which is social and cultural background of the target language. Learner’s language ability is built through communication and activities that helps to shape meaningful construction. This theory has a very high impact on teaching conversation. This article discusses the Constructivism theory, its relation on learner’s word production, psychological mechanism and teaching intermediate conversation’s characteristics, as well as the feasibility and applicability of Constructivism theory in the process on teaching intermediate conversation.

Abstract

The research on language learning theories played important role in TCFL research. Article sorts out and summarizes the issues and theories on second language learning and vocabulary learning?s strategies from both Western and Chinese scholars. It can be summarized that  Western scholars have started a broad scope research in vocabulary learning strategies since their early times, then, the research? results have helped to give a solid and important foundation for the development of vocabulary learning strategies nowadays. Even though TCFL scholars have realized the importance of vocabulary learning strategies in the process of second language learning and more research are being done, but until now, the amount and quality of research in this field still needs to be improved. There is still a big space in the diversity perspective of research that needs to be filled. Article presents  the history and development of the theories of vocabulary learning strategies to help impel and deepen the research of TCFL.

Abstract

This article tries to explore the usage of vocabulary learning strategies in second language learning on students with different background. It attempts to elicit useful ideas and gives a practical guidance in learning Chinese as a second language. This work explains how learning environment, cultural background and proficiency level can highly affect the choice of learning strategies. And even though students are learning different languages, there are similarities in their choice of strategies during the process of acquiring the target language.

Abstract

Chinese culture elements accepted for the first time by the Western countries was ceramic and silk. China's silk was found in ancient Greece during the Roman era and since then China has become the ?Country of Silk?. Chinese ceramics came to the West a bit later. It was during the Song Dynasty that Western countries started accepting Chinese ceramics, and soon after that Chinese Ceramics had became a new surprise to the Western Countries and had China known as the ?Country of Porcelain?. Porcelain as a cultural element is considered not only as material but also as a spirit. When the Europeans came to know the porcelain material, they had gradually been influenced by its spiritual content. Delicateness of ceramic slowly became a widely accepted aesthetic style, added with other factors that shaped the formation of the Rococo style that became very popular in Europe. This article used desk study to analyze and summarize the following three aspects: first, the impact of Chinese ceramic art on Western Rococo art, second, the art appreciation of Rococo art and third, to elaborate the influence of Chinese Ceramic and aesthetic in Western Countries.

Abstract

ABSTRACTTambak Lorok is one of the fishing villages located near the coast of Semarang Bay. Most of the people work as fishermen, who work also cultivate green mussels. Green mussels need an ideal habitat to grow optimally. The water salinity affects the growth of the mussels, if the level of the water salinity is not ideal it will force the green mussels to osmoregulate that require big energy, therefore it will slow the growth of the mussels. The goal of the research was to examine the osmoregulation pattern, osmotic performance rate, and the relative growth rate of green mussels, as well as the relation between osmotic perfomance rate and growth of the green mussel. The research was conducted on September to November 2016 in Tambak Lorok Semarang. The animal that has been used in this research was green mussels (Perna viridis) with the average weight of 40 grams. The data were analyzed using regression analysis to study the relations between salinity, osmotic perfomance rate and relative growth rate. The green mussels’s osmoregulation pattern was hyperosmotic to its environment. The osmoregulation rate of green mussels were 35,44 up to 68,03 mOsm/l H2O. The relative growth rate were 133,33 % up to 220,69 %. The osmotic perfomance rate and relative growth rate of green mussels showed linier relations with high rate and suggested had negative characteristic. Keywords: Green Mussels, Perna viridis, Tambak Lorok, Osmotic Perfomance Rate, Growth Rate. Â
