Abstract

Pure Plant Oil (PPO) such as Pure Coconut Oil (PCO) and Pure Palm Oil (PPaO) could be a solution for electricity problem in remote areas in Indonesia. PCO and PPaO can be used as a fuel for diesel engine to produce electricity. This paper will compare and analyze the performance and emissions of the diesel power plant fueled with diesel fuel, PCO, and PPaO. For performance parameter, brake specific fuel consumption and thermal efficiency of diesel engine by using PPaO and PCO are higher than the diesel fuel, but the brake specific energy consumption are lower than the diesel fuel. That means diesel engine will be more efficient and have lower operational cost by using PPaO and PCO. For the emission parameters, CO2, CO, and CH emissions from PPaO and PCO are higher compared to diesel fuel. That means PPO have higher carbon emission than just using conventional diesel fuel. But, there are highly significant difference of less NOX emissions by using PCO and PPaO compared to the diesel fuel. That means it will be better using PPO because diesel engine has lack of high NOX emissions. These differences of diesel engine performance and emissions by PPaO, PCO, and diesel fuel are caused by the fuel characteristic differences such as cetane number, calorific value, and viscosity.

Abstract

Wind energy can be utilized by the potential of electricity by using a wind turbine, so that the electricity raised power is greater than can be combined with the type of solar energy source. So that it can back up each other if the weather is uncertain. HOPE (Hybrid One Pole Energy) is a Hybrid power plant that is designed to exploit the potential of wind and solar energy in the campus area of PLN Jakarta Institute of Technology, from the measurement results obtained that the average wind speed is 3.5 m/s. Wind turbine designed type of wind turbine Horizontal axis, airfoil NACA 4412 type tapperless with the number of Blades 3. Data processing and simulation are done using Qblade v. 0963 software with a maximum wind speed of 12 m/s. The Material used to make this turbine blade is of teak wood. The results of the turbines of a turbine tapperless with 10 segmen, R=0,9 m α = 6o, Cl = 1.63, Cl/Cd = 133,6 and Cr = 0.18 m and Cp = 42%. From the test results acquired average power that can be raised by 25, 1W while HOPE can optimize the raised power of the average reaches 54.7 W.

Abstract

Peningkatan standar kompetensi para guru dan siswa/i khususnya Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan sesuai dengan himbauan program kementrian Pendidikan untuk melakukan pelatihan bagi para guru dan siswa/i kejuruan. Pendidikan dan pelatihan ini merupakan salah satu bentuk media untuk mempersiapkan kompetensi para guru dan siswa/i kejuruan khususnya di SMK Negeri 3 Pariaman Sumatera Barat dengan merujuk kepada kurikulum 2013. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah SMK Negeri 3 Pariaman Sumatera Barat. Pelatihan ini diperuntukan bagi para guru dan siswa/i SMK Negeri 3 Pariaman Sumatera Barat khususnya di Program Studi Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara (TPTU). Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dalam jangka waktu 3 (tiga) hari mulai tanggal 10 sampai dengan 12 Oktober 2018 dengan materi mengacu pada materi pembelajaran Kurikulum 2013 Sistem dan Instalasi Refrigerasi I. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan ini, maka diharapakan para Guru TPTU dapat mengimplementasikan pengetahuan dan keterampilannya untuk meningkatkan pengajaran berbasis kurikulum 2013 serta merawat peralatan sistem pendingin yang ada di Ruang Praktik Kerja dan Bengkel Program Studi Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara. Selain itu, para siswa/i mampu memahami dan memperkaya pengetahuan yang dimilikinya sebagai persiapan dalam menghadapi program magang serta sertifikasi ahli refrigerasi tingkat I di LSP SMK Negeri 3 Pariaman Sumatera Barat.
