Abstract

Chiller is one source of electricity consumption in buildings. For this reason, keeping the performance of the chiller always at optimum is necessary to limit excessive energy consumption. This paper aims to analyze the performance of the chiller against multiple failures, namely the reduction in condenser and evaporator water that occurs simultaneously (Multiple faults). Secondly, knowing the effectiveness of operating parameters that can detect these multiple failures. In conducting the analysis, we use experimental data conducted by Comstock. The data will be processed and then one variable regression equation will be sought to see the effect of multiple failures on chiller performance and chiller operating parameters to detect multiple failures. From the regression equation for multiple failures we compare it to the normal conditions of the chiller. The results show that for some load ranges, chiller performance drops, while in other ranges chiller performance is better. While the parameters (TCO-TCI) and (TEI-TEO) can detect this multiple failure for the entire load

Abstract

Pada umumnya tidak semua chiller dilengkapi oleh alat ukur debit air (Flow meter) yang permanen untuk mengukur debit air kondensor dan evaporator. Hal ini dikarenakan mahalnya biaya investasi untuk pengadaan alat tersebut. Dikarenakan hal ini, dalam beberapa tahun terakhir dikembangan alat ukur virtual untuk “mengukur” debit air pada kondensor dan evaporator. Alat ukur virtual ini dikenal dengan sebutan virtual flow meter (VFM). Untuk itu penelitian ini akan melakukan studi komparasi metode VFM yang menggunakan model kesetimbangan energi. Studi komparasi bertujuan untuk mengetahui keakuratan masing-masing metode VFM yang ada.

Abstract

In the power plant there are important component, it is condenser. A condenser has function to condense LP turbine exhaust vapor foe condensation.This time the author this time only includes calculations,to find out the total heat transfer using the log mean temperature Difference (LMTD) Method and Number Of Transfer Unit(NTU) in condenser unit III. Inthis research method the author can describe the heat transfer in the condenser what happens before andafter overhaul. It is expected that the resultsof the condition after overhaul must be better than before the overhau.The value of the condenser efficiency calculation of the effectiveness before and after overhaul experienced the highest increase on day 4 from 65.6% to 73.5% increase in condenser efficiency of 7.83%.
