Abstract

Tortor is one of the art cultural of Batak dance which is moving entire body with therhythm by gondang, with the center of the movement of the hands and fingers, feet and legs,back and shoulders. Tortor dances are preserverd the existency which is always used inBatak Toba traditionals events including the wedding party. The research purposes is todetermine symbol meaning of tortor dance sign in a wedding party, to know how tounderstanding of the meaning of symbol meaning of tortor dance sign in a wedding party andto know the movements symbol meaning of tortor dance sign in a wedding party of batak tobasub-ethnic in balige district.This research uses qualitative descriptive method based on the fact in the field throughobservations, interviews and documentations. Location of the research took place in theBalige district with research schedule in May 2014 until July 2014. Informants in this studyamounted to 7 peoples. Data analysis technique is used interactive analysis model by datavalidity checking techniquesThe result of this research shows that tortor dance in a wedding party is art of Batakculture that has its own benefits, in spite of having unique to tell the meaning in dance, alsobecome a process of giving and receiving Batak custom in Dalihan Na tolu system throughnonverbal communication that uses of symbols. The the meaning was contained in themessage symbol of tortor dance in a wedding party is not only describeb by every movements,but also for music of tortor dance in wedding party which is called gondang. Understandingof the meaning of the message symbol is very important to understand instead of just simplyenjoy the aesthetic beauty of this dance but as Batak toba society should stil preserve theBatak culture which is hereditary. The survey results revealed that many people do not knowthe meaning of tortor dance in wedding party. The movements for women’s clothing havebeen wearing kebaya inside and the outside of clothing wrapped by ulos. Ulos that used havebeen modified be modern. In a wedding party in Balige district not using gondang music, butreplaced with a keyboard music, keyboard music selected which the reasons are morepractical and also more modern.Kata Kunci : Tortor, Simbol, dan Budaya Batak

Abstract

Dalihanna tolu is the essence of life Batak tribe. Indigenous values contained in this dalihan na tolu set any custom activity in the environment Batak. In dalihan na tolu human was same and there is no difference based on the layers in society. Dalihannatolu consists of sombamarhula-hula, elekmarboru, and manat mardongan tubu. To maintain ties with family at clan of Batak and maintain strength in the existing value in Dalihannatolu then in each clan in the Batak tribe has punguan. Seeing the condition of today's modern versatile and look at the condition of the city of Pekanbaru the existence of diverse ethnic cultures need to be preserved. To maintain the existence of indigenous cultural values, we need a process of socialization to the next generation by the family to his son who was a adolescent. This is to make the next generation to maintain essentially the culture and not be individuals who dalle.This study used a qualitative research method is descriptive presentation. Informants in this research is that there are families in PunguanSilau Raja and administrators Punguan Silau Raja as key informants using snowball techniques. Data collection techniques using participant observation, interviews and documentation.The results showed that the way of the process of socialization dalihannatolu that parents do to their children who have adolescent based SOR theory: process of teaching students about their own clan lineage and teachings in order to perform speech martutur good greetings and custom events Batak used as a medium of socialization dalihan natolu. Contributing factor in this process is active parental socialization in punguan and custom events as well as participatory socialization patterns. Inhibiting factor in the socialization process is that parents are not active in punguan and rarely follow the traditional events as well as the pattern of repressive socialization. The role of the socialization process are: improved knowledge of indigenous Batak and teens will receive a positive attitude towards the socialization process and the behavior of the running values dalihan natolu social at their life.Keywords: Socialization, Adolescent,Dalihan na Tolu, Dalle, SOR Theory

Abstract

Minangkabau is one of the ethnic groups and living in West Sumatra province, famous for its culture matrilinealnya (maternal lineage). Custom element, Nagari, and the ideology that Islam is not a simple blend in Minang people's lives. With this concept Minang society and see themselves and view the world. This is reflected in a very famous proverb Nagari namely: Indigenous basandi Syarak, Syarak basandi Qur'aan, Syarak Mangato, Indigenous mamakai, Natural Takambang so Teacher. The rapid development of science and advanced technology such as this, be the most important component in the social life of the community. This makes the government, traditional leaders, the elders and religious leaders wanted to reinstate a system of government that has begun bernagari forgotten because it is not running anymoreThis research uses descriptive qualitative method of data collection that was obtained based on the reality on the ground through observation, interviews, and documentation. Where the informant in the NAC board, community leaders, and the public. The informant obtained with snowbaal sampling technique with key informants niniak mamak.The results showed that baliak baliak ka ka village mosque is one of the ways in which local governments in order to crystallize the Minang culture is not lost and restore social life community like Minang rules when in reality not run properly due to lack of knowledge and communication to the public especially mamak niniak young people.Keyword: communication, Local wisdom,baliak ka nagari baliak ka surau
