Abstract

Islamic Boarding School as an institution of Islamic education in Indonesia has become a part of nation journey. In historical aspect, boarding school takes part from struggle history and boarding school has been taking part in nation culture. In education system, boarding school as an institution of Islamic education became sub-system from national education system. But, in a long history, boarding school has not shown their existence which can give shape to expectation for all people. This case may be caused by some factors, namely history, culture of national education system that causes Islamic boarding school left behind. As we know that in 1999 as a popular year to appear desentralisation and it becomes urgent moment to change culture system and education system, including Islamic boarding school.

Abstract

This paper will examine the thoughts of Abdurrahman Mas'ud on Nondikotomik Educational Format (Humanism Religious as Paradigm of Islamic Education). Mas'ud argues, there is no separation between religious science and general science. Mas'ud seems to want to compromise the general assumption between Western education which is more concerned with the knowledge aspect with Eastern education emphasizing more on the Religious aspect. The educational goal according to Abdurrahman Mas'ud is the connection between man and his God (Hablum Minallah) and between man and man (Hablum Minannas). Ultimately, education aims to enable students to become human beings, which is perfect in the eyes of human civilization and perfect in the standard of religion. Furthermore, Mas'ud is in line with the concept of religious humanism that is applied in Islamic education by emphasizing on the aspects of teachers, aspects of methods, aspects of pupils, material aspects, and evaluation aspects

Abstract

This paper discusses Islamic education and approaches related to Islamic education. The phenomenon that exists in society is the lack of Islamic education even in an environment that Muslim is the majority as happened in Aimas, Sorong Regency. Therefore, it is necessary to develop Islamic education focusing on coaching, courses and advocacy. The proposed approach contains comprehension related to education comprehensively by experts in the field of Islamic education. It aims to understand clearly the meaning and root words of the term of education, so that in the explanation there is no longer any mistake for the meaning of the development of Islamic education. The development was applied in line with the educational theory proposed by Ki Hajar Dewantara, Ahmad Tafsir, and Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 Tahuan 2003 concerning the National Education system Article 1 paragraph 10.
