Abstract

A study on species composition and threat potential of invasive plant species was conducted in the Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park,Cidahu Resort, West Java. We developed two plots of different altitudes. The result showed that there were four invasive alien species possessing potential threat to the ecosystem and native species in the National Park, i.e. Piper aduncum (Piperaceae, with an Important Value of 20,70); Calliandra calothyrsus (Mimosaceae, IV = 9,11), Austroeupatorium inulaefolium (Asteraceae, IV = 18,77), and Clidemia hirta (Melastomataceae) as shrub. The threats of invasive plants happen in open forest area and could occur from the residential or public places.

Abstract

Purwodadi Botanic Gardens-LIPI (The Indonesian Institute of Sciences), East Java, is an ex-situ conservation area accommodating various living plant collections.Identification of the parasitic plants conducted in August 200S found five species parasiting 10S trees belonging to SI species of 24 genera. The highest parasite frequency was found on Ficus (Moraceae). The mistletoes found in the study area were Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq. (Loranthaceae), Macrosolen tetragonus (Bl.) Miq. (Loranthaceae),Scurrula atropurpurea (Bl.) Dans. (Loranthaceae), Viscum articulation Burm. f. (Viscaceae), and Viscum ovalifolium DC. (Viscaceae). The damaging effect of the parasitic mistletoes generally occurred on the distal part of branches or twigs of the host tree species.

Abstract

Gunung Halimun National Park is one of the largest remnants of the tropical rain forest left in Java. The forest in this area is an interesting site to be studied due to the richness, diversity and potential of its flora. Through the intensive explorations in Mt. Halimun, Mt. Ci Timur and Mt.Panenjoan, 275 species of plant have been collected.Six species of them are determined as a rare and vulnerable plants, namely Alyxia rcinwardlii, Elaeocarpus grandiflorus, Symplocos odoratissima, Calamus adspersus, C. ciliaris and Korthalsia junghuhnii;and 10 species as "new record", namely Aidia corymbosa, Calophyllum saigonensc, Cryptocarya mentek, llemiscolopia trimera, Litsea elliptica, Sonchlu helerophyllu, Phoebe elliplica, Sarcandra glabru, Sehefflera longifolia and Tetrameri.sla glabra. Based on litterature studied. 151 species out of 275 are potentialplants and the largest group is medicinal plants (60 species).Other data can be gathered as follows 42 species of timber, 19 species of ornamental plants, 16 species of fruits, 10 species of vegetables, 6 species of rattans, 4 species of forages and 4 species of dye and tannin producing plants.

Abstract

TAHAN UJI.1987.Pollination in Nephelium lappaceum L. var.lappaceum. Suppl.Berita Biologi. 3 : 31 - 34.Inflorescence morphology, flowering biology and insect visitors of rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L. var.lappaceum) were observed in Semboja, East Kalimantan.Rambutan is dioeceous plant and cross pollinated by insect. It was showed that in isolated inflorescence failed to produce fruits.Six species of bees i.e. Apisindica,Trigone itama,T. nitidiventris. T. canifronsT.irridipenis and T.atripes are potential for their pollinators.
