Abstract

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Malang is a church developed in the 12th-14th century that was built in Gothic style wich rose windows. This research aims to observe the meaning behind the rose windows located above the entrance gate of the church, using phenomenological method, beginning with exploring the meaning of the rose windows of the church until analyzing the results of the interviews with some respondents. The results show a shift in the meaning of the rose windows by most people. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Gereja Paroki Hati Kudus Yesus Malang merupakan salah satu bangunan gereja bergaya Gothic yang berkembang pada abad XII-XIV dengan salah satu cirinya memiliki rose window. Penelitian ini mengkaji makna rose window yang terdapat di atas gerbang depan gereja dengan menggunakan metode fenomenologi. Kajian dimulai dengan mengetahui makna rose window yang terkandung pada gereja tersebut sampai dengan analisis hasil wawancara terhadap beberapa responden gereja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa saat ini kebanyakan pengguna memiliki pemaknaan yang berbeda terhadap rose window. Kata kunci: Kajian Fenomenologi, Rose Window, Gereja Paroki Hati Kudus Yesus.
