Abstract

The order Diptera has various ecological roles, including as decomposers, pollinators, predators, disease vectors, and bioindicators of environmental quality. The University of Lampung area, consisting of green open spaces, building areas, and water bodies, provides diverse ecological niches for Diptera. This study aimed to identify species, calculate diversity indices, and analyze the relationship between environmental factors and Diptera diversity in the area. The research was conducted from December 2025 to January 2026 using a free roaming method with direct sweeping techniques. Sampling was carried out in the morning (08:00–10:00 WIB) and afternoon (15:00–17:00 WIB) using sweep nets, aspirators, and dippers. Data analysis included the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), Evenness index (E), and Simpson index (D). The results showed a total of 835 individuals belonging to 15 families and 22 species of Diptera. The diversity index (H') was 1.868 (moderate), the evenness index (E) was 0.604 (moderate), and the dominance index (D) was 0.237 (low). These results indicate that the Diptera community is relatively stable without any dominant species. The average air temperature was recorded at 28.6 ℃ in the morning and 28.7 ℃ in the afternoon, while the humidity levels were 77.2% (morning) and 75.7% (afternoon).
