Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition where more than 3 months the kidney has decreased function and or structural disorders. One of psychological problems that often arises and reduces the quality of life of CKD, especially those are undergoing long-term hemodialysis, is depression. Objective : The objective of study was to determine the correlation between the level of depression and the quality of life of CKD patients during hemodialysis. Research metode : The method of the research was a observational analytic design with a cross sectional approach. The sampling method in this study was a nonprobability sampling technique with a purposive sampling approach of 105 respondents. Research results : Data analysis using Independent t-test with the results of depression with physical health p value = 0.701 > 0.05, depression with psychological p value = 0.016 < 0.05, depression with social relations p value = 0.031 < 0.05 , depression with environmental p value = 0,546 > 0,05 means statistically there is a significant difference in the average of depressed patients with psychological components and social relationships of quality of life. Conclusions : This study concluded that the level of depression is independent factor related to quality of life. The result of this study can be input for health workers to focus more on overcoming psychological problems by assessing the level of depression, providing education, and motivation, while it can expected to improve the quality of life of patients.
