Abstract

Obesity in adolescents are serious condition that must be addressed immediately so as not to interfere with the quality of life. Obesity in adolescents can cause physical and psychological problems for adolescents. The purpose of community service with the theme of preventing obesity in adolescents is intended so that adolescents know the meaning, causes, consequences and management of obesity. The method used in this activity was health promotion with lectures and answering questions. The media used were mass media such as radio, facebook, twitter, instagram, and youtube from the business of the Radio Management company Qolbu 92.3 FM (MQFM) Jogja. The results of community service carried out are activities run smoothly, all materials had been delivered at the given time. There were listeners who follow the activity and ask questions and had been answered clearly. Meanwhile, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube media, the schedule of activities and a summary of the material have been uploaded. The conclusion obtained from health promotion activities with the theme of preventing obesity in adolescents are running smoothly and have been implemented. This activity does not compare the results of the achievement of the recipient of the message but sees the implementation of the activity. The use of the right media is one of the right steps so that the information conveyed is right on target. Health promotion targeting adolescent can use social media that is often accessed by adolescent such as radio, facebook, twitter, instagram and youtube.Keywords: obesity, health promotion, radio, social media, adolescents

Abstract

School-age children are the nation's next generation who have the potential to advance development in the future. A quarter of the time a day is spent by children at school, so the nutrition of eating or snacks the child needs to be a serious concern that needs to be monitored and fulfilled properly. Lack of knowledge of students causes them to snack in accordance with their preferences without thinking about food snacks that are exposed to physical contamination, biological chemistry and other dangerous substances. Community service is about the promotion of nutrition about healthy snacks. The purpose of this activity is to get students used to eating healthy foods. Health education methods and demonstrations were chosen to provide information about healthy snacks. The pretest posttest method is used to evaluate students' knowledge before and after health education is given about nutrition of healthy snacks. Respondents in this community service are Jaranan Elementary School students. The results showed an increase in students' knowledge about healthy snacks and observations made by the implementers with the help of teachers showed data that students had chosen and consumed healthy snacks as snacks at school.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus didefinisikan dengan penyakit yang mengganggu metabolisme tubuh dengan kategori kronis. Adanya gangguan metabolisme karbohidrat, lipid dan juga protein menyebabkan terganggunya produksi hormone insulin. Kelor merupakan salah satu jenis tanman yang dipercaya dapat menstabilkan gula darah pada penderita DM. Adanya kandungan quercetin didalam kelor yang memiliki peran sebagai antioksidan yang akan membantu menstabilkan kadar gula darah. Kandungan asam klorogenik juga terdapat dalam kelor yang membantu tubuh memproses produksi insulin. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan edukasi pemanfaatan tanaman kelor untuk penderita diabetes mellitus di Padukuhan Bawuran Pleret Bantul. Metode evaluasi pretst posttest, penyuluhan dan praktek digunakan dalam kegiatan ini. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kearah positif yaitu pengetahuan masyarakat meningkat kearah baik setelah dilakukan edukasi manfaat daun kelor untuk penderita diabetes mellitus. Hasil pretest yang mayoritas kurang mengetahui tentang manfaat daun kelor untuk penderita DM sebanyak 58,33% berubah setelah dilakukan edukasi hasil berubah ke arah positif yaitu 61,11% peserta dengan pengetahuan yang baik tentang manfaat daun kelor untuk penderita DM. Kesimpulan dalam pengabdian ini adalah kegiatan berjalan dengan lancar dan berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta tentang pemanfaatan daun kelor untuk penderita DM.
