Abstract

Secularism is a product of Western thought that negates the role of religion in state institutions. In Turkey, this thought was carried out at the Tanzimat era of the Ottoman Turkish dynasty which aimed to make the Ottoman Turks more advanced and modern by adopting western values. The main proponent of this movement is The Young Turks which is a revolutionary movement that wants to replace the laws and regulations of the Ottoman Turks with laws that applied in the West. This movement has the support of extremist Jews (Zionism), Western media, and the Freemasonry movement. It was through their secularization agenda that the Ottoman dynasty gradually weakened and collapsed and was replaced by the secular republic of Turkish. This research using qualitative methods base on descriptions, the result obtained from the research are to know early the concept and application of secularism in Khilafah Turkish Ottoman. As well as being a lesson for Muslims and its impact on the sustainability of Islam itself. The contribution of this research can enrich scientific knowledge in the historical field, especially regarding the political and social aspects of Islam in the Uthmani Khilafah.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode reward dan punishment dalam peningkatan kosa kata bahasa Inggris serta menggali informasi mengenai kelebihan dan kekurangan metode reward dan punishment. Metode penelitian dalam kajian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini mendapati bahwa penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris peserta didik meningkat. Selain itu tingkat keyakinan dan kepuasan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran semakin baik. Praktik pemberian reward dan punishment disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan siswa. Reward berupa hadiah kerajinan tangan, pujian, dan nilai. Sedangkan punishment berupa pengulangan materi dan tidak mendapatkan hadiah. Kelebihan dari metode ini adalah menumbuhkan rasa kompetitif dan memotivasi belajar secara maksimal. Sedangkan kekurangan dari metode ini berupa biaya yang harus disiapkan untuk memberikan hadiah serta terfokuskan pada siswa yang aktif saja, sebaliknya menjadi beban bagi siswa yang malas dan memiliki mental yang lemah. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the reward and punishment method in increasing English vocabulary and to explore the advantages and disadvantages of the reward and punishment method. The research method in this study is descriptive. Observation, interviews, and documentation carried out data collection techniques. The results of this study found that mastery of English vocabulary increased. In addition, the level of confidence and student satisfaction in the learning process is improving. The practice of giving rewards and punishments is adjusted to the needs of students. Tips are in the form of handicraft gifts, praise, and grades. At the same time, discipline is in the form of repetition of material and not getting a prize. The advantage of this method is that it fosters a sense of competitiveness and motivates maximum learning. While the drawbacks of this method are in the form of costs that must be prepared for gifts and focus on only active students, on the contrary, it becomes a burden for lazy students with a weak mentality.

Abstract

Artikel ini berusaha untuk mengkaji prinsip-prinsip politik kebangsaan Said Nursi (1877-1960 M) yang ia praktikkan di Turki, yakni dengan memilih jalan perjuangan politik secara kultural. Wujud perjuangan-nya adalah dengan dakwah keimanan dan pengungkapan hakikat alquran serta menghindari politik identitas atau politisasi agama demi kepentingan-kepentingan politik yang sesaat dan sektarian serta mengorbankan kepentingan umat Islam secara umum. Kajian ini mencoba menganalisa prinsip-prinsip politik Nursi seperti asas tauhid, musyawarah, kebebasan, persamaan, keadilan, serta nilai-nilai yang mendasarinya. Kajian ini mendapati bahwa pandangan politik kebangsaan Said Nursi ia implementasikan dalam dakwah Risalah Nur yang selalu mengedepankan al-‘amal al-ijabi (aksi positif) dan meng-hindarkan aksi destruktif dan negatif mesti tidak sehaluan dengan kebijakan pemerintah sekular Turki ketika itu. This paper seeks to examine the national political principles of Said Nursi (1877-1960) which he practiced in Turkey, namely by choosing the path of cultural political struggle. The form of struggle is through the propagation of faith and disclosure of the essence of the Koran and avoiding identity politics or the politicization of religion for temporary and sectarian political interests and at the expense of the interests of Muslims in general. This study tries to analyze the political principles of Nursi, such as the principles of tawhid, deliberation, freedom, equality, justice, and the underlying values. This study found that the national political view of Said Nursi that he implemented in the preaching of Risalah Nur, which always put forward al-'Aamal al-ijabi (positive action) and prevented destructive and negative actions must not align with the policies of the Turkish secular government at that time.

Abstract

Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (1877-1960) was an Islamic revivalist who lived in the last period of the Ottoman caliphate in Turkey. He emerged with his book "Risale-i Nur" trying to save the faith of Muslims by revealing the miracle of Qur'an. The primarly purpose of the Risale-i Nur is the revitalization of the faith of the ordinary believers, along with moral renewal. The methodology employed in this paper is qualitative. The main corpus used is Nursi’s book of Risale-i Nur. The findings of this article reveal that the concept of education according to Said Nursi’s view is an integration of three main elements which combine religious sciences (alulum al-diniyyah) with modern cosmic science (al-ulum al-kauniyyah alhaditsah) and the values of sufism doctrine. Nursi stated that religious knowledge was the light for heart while modern science was the light of the mind. The combination of both will guide to the truth and minimize bigotry. The main curriculum of learning should study the main topics contained in the Risale-i Nur. This concept combines three holistic aspects: spirituality which come from religious schools (medrese), intelectuality which come from the scientific schools (mekteb) and morality that come from the sufistic schools (tekke).

Abstract

Abstract This article discusses the roles and challenges of Indonesian youth in front of political currents and global dynamics. Youth as an important asset of the nation in its future sustainability, including for Indonesia which has a dominant youth population, is an important capital for nation building. The world of mass media (printed and online) which is developing massively, is free to be filled by any group (party) whether with positive interests or even those with bad intentions. Therefore, the role of youth becomes central in rejecting negative media propaganda and within the framework of spreading the values ​​of moderation. The existence of youth can be present by coloring the media and filling it with various positive agendas. This article concludes that Indonesian youth in the process of building and advancing the nation are valuable assets that must be empowered as part of a solution that puts forward the values ​​of national moderation and other values ​​of the Indonesian nation has. Key Words: Youth, Media, Nation and Moderation.
