Abstract

Air limbah domestik menjadi salah satu sumber pencemaran badan air dengan persentase mencapai 54,69% hal ini dapat menyebabkan meningkatnya kadar COD, TSS, dan Total N dalam badan air. Penelitian ini mengenai pengolahan limbah domestik apartemen menggunakan unit Sequencing Bacth Reactor (SBR) dengan penambahan serabut kelapa dan kulit siwalan sebagai media lekat biofilm dan adsorben. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektifitas penggunaan serabut kelapa dan kulit siwalan sebagai media lekat biofilm dan adsorben dalam menurunkan kandungan COD, TSS, dan Total N. SBR dioperasikan dengan waktu retensi hidrolik (HRT) 12, 24, dan 36 jam serta laju aerasi yang sama yaitu 14 L/menit. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan HRT optimum yaitu 36 jam dengan penambahan media lekat serabut kelapa. Dengan efisiensi penyisihan COD, TSS, dan Total N yang dihasilkan masing masing 92,86%, 98,15% dan 84,30%.

Abstract

Every year around 24 million people die from work accidents, which include 360,000 fatal accidents and it is predicted that 1.95 million of them are caused by fatal diseases that arise in the work environment. PT Pelindo III is a company that serves as a public port operator (terminal operator). In 2011 according to the Ministerial decree of Transportation Number: KP 88 of 2011 concerning the granting of a business license to PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) as a Port Business Entity covering the provision and service. Therefore, the function of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III also increases. Evaluation is one of the stages in the process of carrying out a fit to work health examination which aims to provide recommendations for developing the process. The purpose of this examination is to study the implementation of the program on fit to work which discusses efforts in implementing occupational health and safety at the Kalimas Terminal in Surabaya. In this study using quantitative descriptive research as a research design with interview and survey methods. The informants of this study were 11 people from Kalimas Terminal employees. The results obtained in this study are the implementation of fit to work program at Kalimas Surabaya Terminal has been carried out optimally and effectively

Abstract

One of the new applications of ferrofluid, a colloidal compound containing magnetic nanoparticles, is the removal of microplastics from water. Laundry waste has a high concentration of microplastics, but this wastewater contains other substances besides microplastics, such as TSS, COD, surfactants, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the effectiveness of this method directly from wastewater to determine the total amount. The following is the highest percentage reduction obtained for each parameter: microplastic content of 66.16% is reduced. Then for the TSS parameter, ferrofluid reduces TSS by 70%. As for TDS, the ferrofluid method has the highest percentage reduction of 50.3%. Furthermore, for surfactants or detergents, the highest decrease in ferrofluid was only 10.37%. Lastly, in COD, the biggest decline reached 30%.

Abstract

Biogas is one of the alternative energy sources that has become increasingly popular. Several studies have found that microalgae are effective in producing biogas. This research aims to explore the potential of natural microalgae as an alternative energy source for biogas production. The study was conducted by utilizing microalgae naturally present in bozzem water and drainage. The reactor used in this study is an Anaerobic stirred-tank reactor. The addition of cow manure is used as a supplementary substrate to enhance nutrient levels during the fermentation process. Various fermentation times and biomass concentrations were applied to determine the optimal reactor conditions for biogas production. Natural microalgae from the drainage and bozzem water have an impact on biogas production. The produced biogas was analyzed to determine CH4 (methane) and CO2 (carbon dioxide) concentrations. The best results in this study were obtained from drainage microalgae, which produced biogas with CH4 concentration of 50.17% and CO2 concentration of 40.14% at a biomass concentration of 40%. Meanwhile, bozzem microalgae produced biogas with CH4 concentration of 32.28% and CO2 concentration of 25.02% at a biomass concentration of 30%.

Abstract

Ceramics are products made from clay orclay through several stages of production. Ceramic production apart from having a positive impact primarily in the economic field also has a negative impact on the environment. Life Cycle Assessement (LCA) is a method of measuring the impact on the environment in a production process. The purpose of this research is to determine the environmental impact resulting from the process of making ceramics at the Mojokerto Ceramics Factory. The research carried out analyzed the ceramic production process so that the scope of LCA used wasgate to gate with a production period of 1 day. The research results show that impactglobal warming the highest was caused by gas distribution (762700 kg CO2 eq) and on processglaze preparation amounting to (477.6 kg CO2 eq). In the impact categoryacidification, the highest impact was caused by gas distribution of (3892 kg SO2 eq) and on processfiring of (3.362 kg SO2 eq). Impact categoryhuman toxicity, the highest impact was caused by gas distribution (72620 kg 1.4 DB eq) and processfiring of (1357 kg 1.4 DB eq). Improvements that can be made are by reducing the use of gas by utilizing alternative energy or incineration technology.

Abstract

The treatment of soy sauce effluent poses a significant environmental challenge due to its high levels of contaminants. Several studies have shown that the use of Chlorella sp. microalgae can contribute to the degradation of BOD, COD and TN using a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR). Therefore, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of a consortium of Chlorella sp. microalgae and indigenous microbes in treating soy sauce wastewater using an MBBR with an anoxic-oxic process. This research uses a continuous system with variations in the volume of alkaline media (20%, 40%, 60%) and sampling times (14, 26, 38 hours). The best variation for the reduction of organic content in soy sauce wastewater using the Chlorella sp. microalgae consortium achieved a BOD reduction of 71.54%, COD reduction of 74% and TN reduction of 71.89%, all at a sampling time of 38 hours. Meanwhile, the organic reduction using indigenous microbes showed a BOD reduction of 86.76%, COD reduction of 88.24% and TN reduction of 82.76%, all at a sampling time of 38 hours.
