Abstract

Knee pain is a musculoskeletal disorder characterized by degenerative joint disease due to damage to the joint cartilage and bone spur growth. This condition causes knee joints to feel painful, swollen, and stiff. Acupuncture therapy and cupping therapy can alleviate knee pain complaints through stimulation at acupuncture points. Acupuncture therapy can provide analgesic effects to reduce pain, and dry cupping therapy can relax muscle tension and improve blood flow, thus reducing pain. By reducing pain, it is expected to provide comfort for knee pain sufferers. This study used a pre-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted from October 2021 to April 2022 in Jabung Village, Jabung Wetan Hamlet, Gantiwarno, Klaten. The study involved a sample of 32 subjects who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, divided into 2 groups: acupuncture therapy and dry cupping therapy. The Mann-Whitney test result was 0.049, which means ρ < 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, indicating an influence of acupuncture therapy and dry cupping therapy on reducing knee pain scale in Jabung Village, Gantiwarno, Klaten. The mean rank of knee pain scale reduction for acupuncture therapy was 19.59 and for dry cupping therapy was 13.41, indicating that acupuncture therapy has a greater effect on reducing knee pain scale. There is an influence of acupuncture therapy and dry cupping therapy on reducing knee pain scale in Jabung Village, Gantiwarno, Klaten, but acupuncture therapy has a greater effect on reducing knee pain scale.

It was conducted at Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, Central Java. The number of study subjects from March 2021 - July 2022 was 300 patients undergoing the hemodialysis program, with 75 subjects obtaining acupressure intervention, 75 subjects obtaining hypnotherapy intervention, 75 subjects obtaining hypnopressure intervention, and 75 subjects obtaining standard/control treatment. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The dependent variables in this study were acupressure, hypnotherapy, and hypnopressure, while the independent variable was the anxiety of patients who underwent a hemodialysis program for less than a year or less than 10 times. Anxiety was tested using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using an independent t-test, with the SPSS statistics program. Results: Post-acupressure anxiety score (Mean= 17.31; SD= 3.22) was lower than pre-acupressure (Mean= 23.17; SD= 2.68) and the result was statistically significant (p<0.001). Post-hypnotherapy anxiety score (Mean= 15.13; SD= 2.83) was lower than pre-hypnotherapy (Mean= 23.09; SD= 2.38), and the result was statistically significant (p<0.001). anxiety score after hypnopressure (Mean= 12.64; SD= 2.23) was lower than before hypnopressure (Mean= 23.13; SD= 2.53) and the result was statistically significant (p<0.001).Conclusion: Hypnopressure is more effective in lowering anxiety in patients undergoing a hemodialysis program. Keywords: anxiety, acupressure, hypnotherapy, hypnopressure, hemodialysisCorrespondence: Hanung Prasetya. Abstract

Hypertension is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease, whose prevalence continues to increase. Electroacupuncture therapy with a combination of noni herbs can be an alternative treatment option in lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension. This study aims to determine the effect of electroacupuncture therapy with a combination of noni herbs on lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension at Ja'far Medika Hospital, Karanganyar. This study used a “Quasi-Experimental” research design with the Non-equivalent two-group pretest-posttest design method. with a purposive sampling method. This design uses a non-randomized trial in each experimental group Pretest was given to research subjects before intervention, and posttest was given to research subjects after intervention. The number of samples used was 34 research subjects which were then divided into 2 control groups and experimental groups. The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed that there were changes in systolic blood pressure p=0.022 and diastolic blood pressure had a value of p=0.023 which showed significant differences between the two groups, with the intervention group (electroacupuncture with a combination of noni herbs) showing more significant changes compared to the control group (sham electroacupuncture) Wilcoxon test showed a statistically significant decrease in blood pressure in both groups (p<0.001). Electroacupuncture therapy with a combination of noni herbs has more effect on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients at Ja'far Medika Hospital, Karanganyar.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy and red ginseng herbal combination in reducing cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemia patients. A Randomized Controlled Trial design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was applied, involving 50 respondents randomly divided into acupuncture and herbal groups. The acupuncture points used were ST 36, ST 40, SP 6, and RN 12, while the herbal group received a red ginseng preparation. Wilcoxon test results for the acupuncture group showed a significant reduction in cholesterol levels (p<0.05). Similarly, the herbal group also showed a significant decrease using Paired T-Test (p<0.05). Both acupuncture and herbal therapies effectively reduced cholesterol levels, with acupuncture showing more pronounced results. These findings support non-pharmacological approaches in managing hypercholesterolemia.

This study used 30 samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, which were divided into 15 people per group. The first group of acupuncture therapy, the second group of acupuncture therapy, and ear apex bloodletting. Mann-Whitney test results showed sig. <0050 in the acupuncture and bloodletting therapy group on systolic blood pressure. Wilcoxon test results show both groups get sig results. <0.05, which indicates that there is an effect on blood pressure from group I and II treatments. In conclusion, acupuncture and ear apex bloodletting are more effective in reducing systolic blood pressure
