Abstract

ABSTRAK            Laki-laki sebagai kelompok dominan perlu memperoleh dorongan dan penguatan dalam kesehatan reproduksi yang efektif. Ekstrak daun jambu biji merah mengandung zat aktif alkaloid, flavonoid dan senyawa lain sebagai antifertilitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan potensi ekstrak daun jambu biji merah sebagai alternatif obat herbal KB pada laki-laki.Metode  penelitian yang digunakan adalah True Experiment dengan rancangan Pre-Post test control group design. Besar sampel penelitian sejumlah 24 ekor tikus putih jantan yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok yaitu K1 (tikus diberikan larutan CMC Na 0,5%), K2 (tikus diberi larutan ekstrak daun jambu biji merah dosis 40mg/ml/hari) dan K3 (tikus diberikan larutan ekstrak daun jambu biji merah dosis 80mg/ml/hari sebanyak 1ml per sonde) setiap kelompok dilakukan tindakan selama 30 hari.Hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan Paired T-test menunjukkan: 1)  Kadar LH dosis 40 mg/ml/hari dan 80mg/ml/hari ρ > α, tidak ada perbedaan yang bermakna sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan pada kadar LH. 2) Kadar Testosteron dosis 40 mg/ml/hari ρ  > α (0,090), tidak ada perbedaan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Dosis 80 mg/ml/hari ρ < α, ada perbedaan yang signifikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. 3) Hasil analisis data pada pemeriksaan kadar LH dan jumlah sel Leydig dengan ANOVA didapatkan ρ > α yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemeriksaan kadar LH dan jumlah sel Leydig di ketiga kelompok perlakuan. Hasil ANOVA pada pemeriksaan kadar Testosteron didapatkan ρ < α (ρ = 0,000) yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kadar Testosteron di ketiga kelompok perlakuan.Pemberian ekstrak daun jambu biji merah dengan dosis 40mg/ml/hari dan 80mg/ml/hari pada tikus putih jantan dalam penelitian ini belum dapat mempengaruhi sekresi kadar LH dan tidak dapat mempengaruhi jumlah sel Leydig , dosis 80 mg/ml/hari dapat mempengaruhi peningkatan kadar Testosteron. Kata kunci:  Ekstrak daun jambu biji merah, LH, sel leydig, testosteron  ABSTRACT             Male as the dominant group need to acquire the encouragement and strengthening of effective reproductive health. Red guava leaf extract contains active substances alkaloids, flavonoids and other compounds as antifertility. This study aims to demonstrate the potential of guava leaf extract as an alternative herbal medicine KB on male. This study aimed to demonstrate the potential of guava leaf extract as an alternative herbal medicine for male contraceptive. This study was an experimental study using pre-post test control group design. Sample comprised 24 male rats, which were divided into three treatment groups. Group 1 (K1) was the control group, treated with a solution of 0.5% CMC Na. Group 2 (K2) was a group that was given with red guava leaf extract in a dose of 40 mg/ml/day, and Group 3 (K3) were given with red guava leaf extract in a dose of 80 mg/ml/day. All treatments were administered orally 1 ml for 30 days. Paired t-tests on LH level in a dose of 40 mg/ml/day produced ρ > α (ρ = 0.487) and a dose of 80 mg/ml/day ρ > α (ρ = 0.202). LH level showed no significant difference before and after treatment. Paired t-tests on the levels of testosterone dose in 40 mg/ml/day produced ρ > α, showing no difference before and after treatment. A dose of 80 mg/ml/day revealed ρ < α, showing a significant difference before and after treatment. Data analysis on examination of LH level and Leydig cell count by ANOVA produced ρ > 0.05, indicating no significant difference in LH level and Leydig cell count in all three treatment groups. ANOVA results on testosterone levels produced ρ < α (ρ = 0.000), indicating that testosterone levels in all three treatment groups showed significant difference.The administration of guava leaf extract in a dose of 40 mg/ml/day and 80 mg/ml/day in male rats have not been able to suppress the secretion of LH levels, and have not been able to decrease Leydig cell coount, but in a dose of 80 mg/ml/day it can increase testosterone levels. Keywords: red guava leaf extract, LH, Leydig cells, testosterone
