Abstract

This study aims to find errors in the translation of scientific texts from English into Indonesian. This research uses the qualitative method with content analysis approach. The results showed that (1) the translation strategy, the majority of students used semantic strategy, especially modulation in translating scientific texts and at least used the special structural strategies of addition, (2) lexical error, the majority of students made formal lexical errors in word selection and the least (3) morphological errors, the majority of students make mistakes in the affixation field of improper use of affixation and the least of which are affixations that are not broken, (4) syntactic errors, syntactical errors found in the translation of scientific texts in the fields, phrases, clauses and sentences but the majority of students make mistakes in the field of sentences are the use of illogical phrases and the fewest errors in the field clause is the addition of auxiliary verbs in the equational or nominal clause, and the separation of the perpetrator (subject) and the word in the active clause, (5) the factor causing errors in translation ie the majority of students do not understand the source language text and the least of which is the quality of the source language using the incorrect grammatical, the sentence is vague, the idea is not coherent and many fungtuations.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the teachers’ strategy, model, and media of teaching on post covid-19. This research was conducted at SMA SWASTA TAMANSISWA PEMATANG SIANTAR. The approach of research was used in this research by using qualitative research with ethnography method. There are 44 teachers as the subject but only 22 teachers as the sample of this research. The technique of collecting data was observation and interview. The result of this research showed that the strategy which the teacher used in teaching on post covid-19 where cooperative based learning, inquiry based learning, delivery strategy, and management strategy. While, the model of teaching that the teachers used, namely discovery learning, problem based learning, and project based learning. After used the model of teaching, the teachers should be able to design the media of teaching related to their topic or material of subject that will be taught. The media of teaching that the teachers used such as to design videos, power point using image media, and sharing links of video that they found on the internet/google. So, the teachers applied the digital based learning strategy, model, and media of teaching on post covid-19.

Abstract

The objective of the research is find out the effect of Using Clustering technique on students’ Writing Skill at Tenth Grade of MA Al-Kautsar. This research used quantitative approach with experimental method. The samples in this study was the tenth grade students of MA Al-Kautsar. The researcher used simple random sampling by making lottery to take the sample. The tenth grade of MA Al-Kautsar was divided into two groups, namely 30 students as group 1 and 30 students as group 2. Group 1 as control group and group 2 as experiment group. The instrument used in the study was a written test in the pre-test and post-test. The data was analyzed by using SPSS. The findings indicate that the students’ score pre-test in control group are 1593 where the mean is 53,10 and the students’ score post test in control group are 1809 where the mean is 60,30. Before the treatment of clustering technique , the students’ prior knowledge in writing descriptive text was less since the pre- test data are 1605 where the mean is 53,50. After the treatment of using clustering technique, the students’ ability in writing descriptive text had been improved since the post-test are 2211 where the mean is 73,70. Based on testing hypothesis of post-test scores, it is found tcount ( 7,91) > ttable (1,69) at the significance level ɑ= 0,05 and degrees of freedom (df)= 29. Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, it means that there was difference in students learning outcomes by using clustering technique and without using clustering technique. So, From the result, the researcher concluded that using clustering technique effect significantly to improve students’ writing skill at tenth grade of MA Al- Kautsar
