Abstract

Queuing is an inevitable event in our daily life, such as payment at cashier, traffic jam, etc. Queue appears because the necessity of service that exceeds service capacity or the available servers, so arrived customers cannot be served immediately. Some solution can be implemented to solve the problems. One of the solutions is by adding the service facilities can be given to minimize queue or to prevent queue. But, by adding the service facilities, will minimized the profit until accepted levels. On the contrary, the long delay of queue will cause the loss of customers. This paper discusses about how to estimate the right solution to prevent queue without adding many service facilities and reach optimal condition of service. Keywords: Queue, Customers, Service Facilities

Abstract

Highway facilities are the most used facilities people in Jakarta city to avoid the traffic jam. this paper will present time service of the operator for each highway gate at Gerbang Tol Ancol Timur, North Jakarta. This research conducted to determine whether there is a significant difference in time service for each highway gate with ANOVA hypothesis analysis. The researcher also uses software to do some calculate in ANOVA hypothesis analysis. The result from observation processed using the software and formula, the value of P is 0,097 with software calculation and the value of F-arithmetic is 2,4487 with formula calculation. from that data, it can be concluded that there are no significant differences in time service for each highway gate, because P > α (0,05) and F-table (3.19506) > F-arithmetic.Keywords: ANOVA, Minitab, Gerbang Ancol Timur.

Abstract

The existance of Traditional Market is still irreplacable even by Modern Market which grow rapidly in this decade. This result comes from an observation showing that a lot of people still come and do transactions in Traditional Market. Johar Baru Market is of Traditional Market located in Central Jakarta. This market is supposed to accomodate 43.509 citizens who live in Administrative Village Johar Baru, Central Jakarta. The research utilizes data mining, particularly Market Basket Analysis methods to find the pattern of product sets association. From analyzed pattern, the research is continued by determining the eficient and efective layout in hope of reducing any congestions occured in Market. The result is to group vegetable sellers which currently spread over 17 blocks into 9 blocks and are placed at south of the market, to group fruit sellers which currently spread over 9 blocks into 4 blocks and are placed at south of the market, to group chicken sellers which currently spread over 7 blocks into 5 blocks and are placed at west of the market, to group meat sellers which currently spread over 5 blocks into 4 blocks and are placed at north of the market, to group fish sellers which currently spread over 7 blocks into 4 blocks and are placed at west of the market, to group primary substance sellers which currently spread over 13 blocks into 6 blocks and are placed at east of the market, to group Tofu and Fermented Soybean sellers which currently spread over 7 blocks into 3 blocks and are placed at east of the market, to group coconut sellers which currently spread over 3 blocks into 2 blocks and are placed at north of the market, to group food sellers which currently spread over 8 blocks into 5 blocks and are placed at east of the market, and to group processed food sellers which currently spread over 4 blocks into 2 blocks and are placed at north of the market. Keywords: Johar Baru Market, Traffic Density, Market Basket Analysis

Abstract

McDonald's is one of the many brands of fast food restaurant franchise that stands in various cities in Indonesia. In the present study, researchers had implemented the method of work sampling to one of the workers in charge of maintaining a cashier at a McDonald's restaurant that stands in the Harapan Indah, Bekasi Barat. The purpose of this study was to measure the level of productivity, normal time and standard time of each element of the work of employees who served in the front line at the fast food restaurant. According to the results of the calculation and analysis of the data, the level of productivity of the worker at McDonald's cashier is 88.86%, followed by the normal time and standard time by 21.06 seconds and 23.4 seconds. This figure has been demonstrated that the level of productivity and the speed of service from a McDonald's cashier worker is good. Keywords: Work Sampling, Productivity, Normal Time, Standard Time.

Abstract

Transportation is fundamentally in our life, not only to distributes of goods and commodities but also to distributes humans. Transportation problem is the problem that we often encounter. This study is further research from previous research conducted by Onianwa and Sadiq from Ambrose Alli University, Nigeria. This study tried to manipulate the inter-facility transport from the discussion of the previous research with Vogel Approximation Method (VAM) and Modified Distribution (MODI). The results show that VAM provides transportation cost for $ 11.050 ($ 500 lower than NWCR) and equal to the output of the AAU software that used previously. Keywords: Transportation, Vogel Approximation, Modified Distribution.

Abstract

From time to time the increasing productivity needs to be done to maintain the existence of a company. This research was conducted at a golf glove manufacturing company in Yogyakarta. This study was aimed to compare the productivity of effective working time at production line in 2014 and 2015. This research was using Cobb-Douglas approach. This study shows that the level of productivity in 2015 was higher than in 2014 with the value of the efficiency index in 2014 and 2015 are 54995.07 and 59873.94 respectively. This means that the usage of working hours was increased by 8.87%.Keywords: Productivity, Effective Working Hours, Cobb-Douglas, Efficiency Index

Abstract

Materials movement between facilities within space will be talking about the amount of costs to be incurred by the companies, many organizations do not realize the importance of the efficiency of material movement. Material handling cost is not only defined as all costs incurred to move material or human inter-facility, in vast perception, material movement can also be a movement of consumers who come to shop and between storefronts, it certainly raises the cost of time for consumers. This research discuss about redesigning the sequence of storefront layout in a shopping center. This research using Modified Spanning Tree method and result of this research is F2-F1-F7 F3-F4-F5-F6 for the optimum solution sequence. Keywords: Efficiency, Material Handling, Layout, Modified Spanning Tree

Abstract

This research aims to improve the quality of processes and products on PT Rackindo Setara Perkasa, especially in Meja A edging process. This research is using six sigma method with the steps of DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control). The results of this research is there are three types of defects that found in the edging process. The defects are existing on paper connection, paper edging is not long enough and the maal edging is stuck. Based on the Pareto diagram, the improvements focused on the problem of paper connection and paper edging that is not long enough. Both defects are analyzed using the fishbone diagram to describe the causes of defects. From the analysis that uses 5W1H and solution tree, the conclusion of this study are the identification of several factors that cause defects, and recommendations for improvement in edging process, by making a training for the operators of edging process, making the written SOP on edging machine, making instructions about the engine setting, additional facilities on the roller of edging machine and the addition of compressor unit. By doing the improvement, it is expected an increase of sigma value from 4,22 into 4,71.Keywords: Six Sigma, DMAIC, Statistical Tools, Capability Process, 5W1H
