Abstract

The welding SMAW has processed in high temperature (1500oC) and variation of cooling methode will give differences of value impact. The research is weld for steel alloy with three variation lap joint (I, U, V) and three cooling media (air, sea water and oil). The analysis and solution of the research conclude that weld joint by using seam V, U and I, has the highest impact in energy and value within the air cooling media. This lap joint inclined to ductile. The lap joint in the cooling media of sea water and oil has low impact in energy and value. This lap joint inclined to brittle.

Abstract

Composites made from natural plant fibers that are environmentally friendly is now more attractive, lighter weight, the number of abundant, renewable, competitive prices has encouraged the use of a broad field of engineering, building interiors and clothing. The characteristics of each fiber is highly variable and influenced by the maturity of fiber materials, processing into fiber, perlakauan after so fibers and fiber treatment. Known properties of fiber can help choose the method that is right and good to be applied in the manufacturing process of composite. Pretreatment, composition and matrix settings, select the type of adhesive is a method that is widely used to obtain physical and mechanical properties superior but physical properties and mechanical produced highly variable and not consistent.

Abstract

The manufacture of particle boards without synthetic adhesives is influenced by the composition of the material, temperature, time, pressure, particle size and method of manufacture. The pressure of one important parameter and its variations often produce different properties. Pine skin is a waste that is not valuable and just wasted. Making particle boards from palm oil empty bunches and pine bark waste is an interesting and new thing. Pinus merkusii leather powder is used as an added ingredient, its composition is 70% tkks and 30% pine merkusii powder with 5-6% moisture content, dry based. The fiber lengths are 0.1-2.0 cm and pressures are 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 kg.cm-2, temperature 150, 160, 170, 180 and 190ºC. The standard for particle board reference and bending test is SNI 03-2105-2006 and ASTM D1037. The result show of working pressure and heating temperature affect the density, moisture content and MOR. Increasing pressure and temperature tend to increase the MOR value and increase in temperature above 190oC, the MOR value decreases.

Abstract

In the heat treatment with rapid dye method (Quenching) has the disadvantage that the increase of water temperature around the metal is high enough, it is not suitable for long material, this issue need another attempt to study the cooling method with spraying system which is done to the spring steel. Heating is done until temperature of 920 ° C, with holding time 60 min, pressure 20, 40, 60 psi and 120 seconds of spraying time. After heat treatment, the specimens' hardness is tested by the method of Rockwell C (HRC). The results of hardness testing showed that the average hardness at a pressure of 20, 40, 60 psi is 34.55 HRC, HRC 39.80, and 40.45 HRC. At a pressure of 60 psi martensitic phase is observed clearly. There is a tendency that the higher the pressure, the hardness increased.

Abstract

Banyak industri yang melakukan pengerolan logam, pengerolan logam atau baja akan mempengaruhi sifat mekanik yaitu regangan dan kuat tariknya, nilai pesentase perubahan sifat keduanya belum banyak diketahui. Wire drawing mampu menunjukan perubahan sifat tersebut dan parameter yang mempengaruhi adalah sudut dies, temperatur sampel dan jenis logam yang ditarik. Dalam penelitian wire drawing ini digunakan bahan Aluminium dan variasi sudut dies 6º, 10º, 14º dan temperatur lingkungan 32o . Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sampel yang ditarik mengalami penurunan regangan dan peningkatan kekuatan tarik yakni : regangan menurun sebesar 27,15 % pada sudut dies 6°, 45,11 % pada sudut dies 10° dan 52,10 %. Pada sudut dies 14°, dan kekuatan tarik meningkat sebesar 9,9 %, pada sudut dies 6°, 4,8 %, pada sudut dies 10° serta 1,6 % pada sudut dies 14o dari nilai tegangan tarik awal yaitu 198,38 MPa sudut dies yang terbaik adalah 10o .

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh rasio zirconia ball dengan serbuk keramik alumina pada proses penghalusan serbuk keramik alumina menggunakan alat horizontal ball mill. Distribusi ukuran serbuk keramik alumina diuji menggunakan Partikel Size Analiser (PSA). Struktur Mikro Serbuk Alumina diamati menggunakan Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Hasi pengukuran PSA menunjukkan Persentase serbuk alumina yang dihaluskan pada rasio 1:20 pada putaran 150 rpm selama 6 jam menjadi ukuran 44,07 µm dari serbuk awal 70,28 µm yakni 37,3 %. Ditinjau dari ukuran sub micron (0,1µm-1µm), pada ukuran partikel 0.496 µm sampai 0,954 µm, persentase serbuk yang paling banyak lolos atau paling sedikit tertahan berada pada variasi rasio 1:20. Pada Rasio 1:20, dari total sampel serbuk alumina yang diuji menggunakan ukuran partikel sieving 0.954 µm didapatkan persentase tertahan sebanyak 92,00 % dan lolos sebanyak 8 % dari 2 gr serbuk alumina yang diuji yaitu seberat 0,16 gr. Hasil pengamatan SEM, variasi rasio yang menghasilkan bentuk dan ukuran bulir yang paling optimal berada pada pengujian variasi rasio R-1:20. Bulir serbuk alumina terlihat mulai membulat irregular dan lebih banyak bulir yang berukuran < 50 µm.
