Abstract

Cedera kepala adalah perubahan status mental yang terjadi saat kecelakaan. Cedera kepala diklasifikasikan berdasarkan beratnya trauma dan morfologinya. Pemeriksaan neuroimaging yang berperan dalam diagnosis cedera kepala meliputi foto rontgen, Computed Tomography (CT), dan Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Foto rontgen memiliki peran yang sangat terbatas. CT scan tanpa kontras merupakan pilihan pertama di unit gawat darurat. MRI lebih sensitif mendeteksi kelainan intrakranial pasien cedera kepala dibandingkan CT scan khususnya pada cedera kepala ringan.Traumatic brain injury is defined as the alteration of mental status during/after an accident. Traumatic brain injury can be classified based on its morphology and the severity of the trauma. Several neuroimaging studies that play a major role in the diagnosis of a traumatic brain injury include Skull X-Ray, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the brain. X-Ray examination has a limited function in diagnosis. CT scan without contrast is the main examination in emergency department. MRI studies appear to be more sensitive than CT scan in detecting intracranial abnormalities especially in mild traumatic brain injury.
