Abstract

Abstract: Fuel entering through the main jet nozzle, affects engine performance and the composition of the exhaust gas is produced. Research the composition of the exhaust gases in machines otto one cylinder done with experimental method. The purpose of this study was to obtain the characteristics of the engine with exhaust gas analysis method. This research done with varying size main jet nozzle and varying the engine rotation every 400 rpm. Data processing the results of testing includes a comparison of the composition of the exhaust gases is HC, CO2, CO, O2, AFR, and the temperature of the exhaust gases. Then calculate the enthalpy of combustion for each main jet nozzle. The composition of the exhaust gases are best obtained from the main jet nozzle GX 160 which has the highest CO2 value of 20%, with the lowest CO value of 1.26% and the largest combustion enthalpy value with the value of 264.769 kJ. From the analysis can be known that the burning of the main jet nozzle GX 160 approaching the stoichiometric combustion.

Abstract

Abstract: Lead (Pb) in solder has been used for decades in industries of electronic equipment. Mostly in the lead solder old electronic equipment containing 63% (Sn), 37% lead (Pb). Heating solder in high temperature steam generating heat which can damage the respiratory system. The purpose of this analytic is to obtain the characteristics of the mechanical properties of the alloy Sn-0,7Cu- "X" Zn better than the Sn-Pb alloy as an alternative to non-lead solder alloy material. Tests conducted in the form of density, melting temperature, metallography, shear strength, and hardness. The effect of addition of Zn alloy Sn-Cu-Zn increase hardness value of each acquired 85% of the material Sn-0,7Cu-10Zn, 81% were obtained from material Sn-0,7Cu-11Zn and 70% was obtained from material Sn -0,7Cu-11Zn. While the effect of adding Zn alloy Sn-Cu-Zn can increase the shear strength of each of about 29.4% on a material- 0,7Cu-10Zn Sn, 65% in material Sn-0,7Cu-11Zn and about 140% is obtained from material Sn-0,7Cu- 12Zn.

Abstract

Abstract: Warm water is needed by human being to take a bath, wash their clothes, their dishes etc. By the photothermal conversion, the solar energy can be used to heat the water. Flat solar collector is a tool which is used to capture energy of the sun radiation then convert it into heat to heat up water in collector’s pipes. The number of glass cover used effects the performance and efficiency of the collector. From this research, it is found that the efficiency of the collector is better when the cover used are two glasses than one glasses. The temperature difference of incoming and outgoing water in the collector using two glasses 15 ̊C higher than that of one glass.

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the effect of variations in the diameter of the main jet nozzles on the performance of the motor fuel. Performance analysis covering torque, power and specific fuel consumption (sfc). With the aim to determine the maximum performance that can be generated on any variation of the diameter of the main jet nozzles. At the time of this experiment performed with the engine 4 stroke Honda GX-160, using hydro tool dynamometer and using premium fuel. The data taken is the engine rotation, the force measured on the dynamometer and the time spent fuels. Tests conducted at the Laboratory of Energy Conversion Mechanical Engineering UNTAR Jakarta. Testing is done by providing the machine with a load variation of rotation remains in order to obtain a force on each spin machine with a main jet nozzle diameter variations. Variations rev the engine starts at the minimum rotation until maksimuml with fixed load, variations in the diameter of the main jet nozzles on testing.

Abstract

Gasoline is one type of fuel oil for two, three, and four wheeled motorized vehicles. Gasoline have two components, n-heptane (C7H16) and isooctane (C8H18). The quality of gasoline can be determined from amount of isooctane or which is also known as the octane number. Octane number is the number represents the volume percent of isooctane in gasoline. An octane number of 100 means that the gasoline is equivalent to pure isooctane in terms of combustion properties. While the octane number 0 means that the gasoline is equivalent to pure n-heptane. Octane number 92 means that the gasoline consists of 92% isooctane and 8% n-heptane. Nowdays, gasoline has appeared with various and higher octane numbers. The higher the number octane, the more efficient the process of burning the gasoline and selection of the wrong type of fuel oil can affect engine performance. For determine the performance, fuel conumption, on a vehicle, fuel testing is carried out on the Honda GX 160 engine to compare the results of fuel performance Pertalite (90), Pertamax (92), and Pertamax Turbo (98). In this test what will be carried out is to look for the efficiency of each fuel according to the RPM that has been determined, 1800, 2100, 2400, 2700, and 3000. So from each of these RPM you wil see the torque and time of reduced fuel consumption in 8mm tube. From there, you will see the comparison between each fuel, whether it is getting higher and more efficent or not. The increase that occurs in the delta h ratio between pertalite and Pertamax results in an increase of 7% at 2400 rpm, even though the initial torque of Pertalite is higher but the increase in Pertamax remains stable.

Abstract

Along with the development of the times required vehicles that have good performance quality performance. One of them is by improving the quality of combustion that occurs in the combustion chamber. The research method used in this test is to determine the rotation and torque generated from each spark plug. Based on the data obtained, the torque and power generated by iridium spark plugs increases compared to nickel spark plugs, namely at 1800 RPM it produces 15 Nm of torque with 2.826 kW of power to 16 Nm of 3.0144 kW of power. From the test data, iridium spark plugs can increase ∆ BHP by 7%. But not with the specific fuel rate in the combustion engine produced by iridium spark plugs, the best results are higher than the specific fuel rate produced by nickel spark plugs, namely 2.0101 x 10-5 kg/kW.s at 3000 RPM rotation while the results the best specific fuel rate is 1.29 x 10-5 kg/kW.s at 2700 RPM rotation. This means that iridium spark plugs can increase the torque and power of the combustion engine because the combustion that occurs in the combustion chamber is faster so that combustion occurs in a rich state.

Abstract

Exhaust emissions are a mix of different gases and particles emitted by vehicles when the engine is running. Cars emit a potent mix of exhaust gases, many of which have harmful effects. They include CO2¬¬¬, CO, NOx, SO2, HC, and Particulates. Pollutants from cars are linked to a range of health problems, from allergies and skin irritation to heart disease and respiratory problems. Exhaust emissions correlated heavily with spark plugs. Spark plug is a device that fits into the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine and carries two electrodes separated by an air gap, across which current from a high tension ignition system discharges, to form a spark for igniting the air-fuel mixture. For determining the effects of types of spark plugs to emissions, the test is carried out on the honda GX 160 engine to compare nickel alloy and iridium spark plugs. The engine will be tested at 1800, 2100, 2400, 2700 and 3000 RPM to compare the exhaust emission emitted by the exhaust.
