Abstract

The phrase “love is strong as death” in the text of the Song of Solomon 8:1-14 gives the impression of sensuality and vulgarism. The impression is a metaphor for the relationship in marriage. The method that will be used is through a descriptive qualitative approach followed by a thematic analysis using a literal perspective that pays attention to hermeneutic rules. This study concludes that chapter 8:1-14 comprehensively states that the power of true love is like a seal that claims ownership and figuratively describes the intimate relationship between God and the Israelites. This sensual narrative becomes a metaphor for the bond of Christian marriage. AbstrakFrasa “cinta kuat seperti maut” dalam teks Kidung Agung 8:1-14 memberikan kesan sensualitas dan vulgarisme. Kesan itu sebagai mentafora relasi dalam penikahan. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menunjukkan makna reflektif secara teologis nas Kidung Agung tersebut dalam konteks relasi pernikahan Kristen. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif interpretatif dengan memperhatikan kaidah hermeneutik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa secara komprehensif pasal 8:1-14 menyatakan kekuatan cinta sejati bagaikan meterai yang mengklaim kepemilikan, serta kiasan keintiman hubungan antara Allah dengan umat Israel. Narasi sensual ini menjadi metafora bagi ikatan pernikahan Kristen.

Abstract

The name "Genesis" means "the origin, source, creation or beginning of something. The focus of this textual research refers to the character of Moses as the author. Analysis of the texts in Genesis chapter 1 shows a patron that is not found in other religious concepts. the text in Genesis chapter 1 regarding creation aims to correlate the substance of God's divinity in the process of creation. This research uses a thematic and descriptive qualitative approach to obtain comprehensive reasoning on the text of Genesis chapter 1. This study concludes that the role of God in creation essentially leads to the theological basis that God who is not limited in space and time.
