Abstract

Nursery is the initial stage of palm oil plantation cultivation that results in the availability of superior seed with normal growth ready for planting in the field. Production of palm oil crops is highly dependent on the technical cultivation during the nursery. The activities of nursery should be considered to provide good quality seed suitable for cultivation. These activities include supervision, watering, weeding, fertilizing, consolidation and pest control. This research was conducted at Experimental Garden of Citra Widya Edukasi Polytechnic of Palm Oil, Bekasi, West Java. The aim of this research is to know the growth of morphology and physiology, to know the best mixed dose and to get the alternative of planting media for palm oil seed in the main nursery with the provision of human waste. The experimental design used was a complete randomized design of one factor, consisting of: A0: 100% human waste control; A1: 25% human waste: 75% sawdust ash; A2: 50% human waste: 50% sawdust ash; A3: 75% human waste: 25% sawdust ash; and A4: 100% control of sawdust ash. Each treatment was repeated twice, each treatment using two experimental samples so that for all there were 20 plants. The results showed that the provision of human waste significantly affect the growth of leaf number and leaf area, the best mixed dose with a ratio of 25%: 75% as an alternative to planting media in pre nursery of palm oil.

Abstract

Spraying activities is a important aspect of the maintenance activities of palm oil. Use proper spray equipment capable of reducing the cost of weed control in palm oil plantations. Spraying is usually done with a knapsack sprayer (solo) with weeds mortality conditions are uneven so that the necessary tools other spraying with spraying conditions are equitable and more cost-effective, such as the motor knapsack sprayer. This study aims to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of spraying equipment knapsack sprayer (solo) and a motor knapsack sprayer in oil palm plantations. The research was conducted at PT Agro Muko Air Bikuk Estate, Mukomuko, Bengkulu Province. The method used is observation, data collection and information through interviews. Based on the results of the study, the mortality rate of weeds in a knapsack sprayer (solo) less evenly distributed, only 90%, whereas for the motor knapsack sprayer up to 99%. The total cost of spraying using a knapsack sprayer (solo) is Rp 34,610/ha, while the total cost of spraying using a knapsack sprayer motorcycle is Rp 27,241/ha, so that there is a difference in cost of spraying Rp 7,369/ha. The use of a motor knapsack sprayer spraying tool, enables the spraying activity and reduce the cost of application.

Abstract

The horn beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros L.) bore oil palm shoots which resulted in inhibition of growth and destruction of the growing point so that the plant is deadly. Oryctes rhinoceros attack control is usually done manually with a lot of manpower required. One of the tools of controlling pests Oryctes rhinoceros is using a stick. This study aims to compare the work performance of manbosulfan application manually with stick. This research was conducted from March to May 2017 using observation method and application of stick tool design result. The research was conducted at PT Kayung Agro Lestari, Matan Hilir Utara, Ketapang, West Kalimantan. Research begins by designing a tool stick and making tool stick. Sticker tool made used for control of Oryctes rhinoceros. Application of active ingredients by using sticks can be more easily done on plants than manually, and plant height that is not uniform can be overcome with tool sticks that can be arranged in short length. Based on result of research, achievement of worker by using stick more efficient equal to 7,8 ha/HK compared to manual method 3 ha/HK.

Abstract

Rainfall is one of the factors of oil palm growth. Rainfall analysis needs to be done in the determination of NPK fertilization schedule. Large rainfall for application of fertilizer is 60 – 300 mm/month, while the optimal amount is 100 – 200 mm/month. This study aims to determine the most appropriate time for the application of NPK fertilizers and to know the effect of rainfall on the application of NPK fertilizer. This research was conducted in April 2017 at PT Cisadane Sawit Raya, Labuhan Batu Regency, North Sumatera Province. The method used in the implementation of this study is descriptive analysis method that is by analyzing the data available and processed so that obtained a clear picture of the facts and the relationship between the phenomena studied. The parameters observed are the amount of rainfall in the last 5 years in PT Cisadane Sawit Raya plantation. The results show that the optimal time for NPK fertilizer application is in June with 112.5 mm/month rainfall for the first rotation and in December with rainfall 201.8 mm/month for second rotation.

Abstract

The increasing concentration of carbon in the atmosphere is a serious environmental problem that can affect living systems on earth. The increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused global warming. The impact of global warming will affect the world climate change and rising sea levels. Climate change will disrupt farming systems in both the micro and macro scale. Estimation of forest carbon emissions is one of the important efforts to reduce climate change. Land clearing for oil palm plantations will affect the carbon stored in the forest reserves. This study aims to determine the carbon stocks stored in oil palm in each age group on the type of red-yellow podzolic soil in Oil Palm Plantation PT Daria Dharma Pratama Bengkulu. Method of measuring the carbon content of oil palm biomass using non-destructive method with allometric equations. Measurement of biomass carbon content stored conducted in every age group of plants. The result showed the content of carbon stored in plants palm largest (carbon biomass) on red-yellow podzolic soil in PT DDP Oil Palm Plantations are in the age group 11-15 years was 65.89 ton/ha. Then a row in the age group 16-20 years was 51.74 ton/ha, the age group> 20 years of 33.07 ton/ha, the age group 6-10 years at 31.86 ton/ha, and the age group 0-5 years of 1.61 ton/ha. Carbon content stored on palm influenced by plant age, and the growth and development of plants. Group relationship with the age of the plant oil palm biomass carbon content tend to show a sigmoid pattern. Growth and development of oil palm plantations is affected by the physical properties and chemical soil.
