Abstract

In this paper a robust fractional order PID (FOPID) controller is proposed to control the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system, the tuning of the controller gains are done using whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and integral time absolute error (ITAE) cost function is adopted to achieve an efficient performance. The transient analysis was done and compared with conventional PID in terms of overshoot, settling time, rise time, and peak time to explain the superiority of the proposed controller. Finally, a robustness analysis is done by adding external disturbances to the system and changing the system parameters by ±20% from its original value, the controller overcomes the disturbances signals with less than 0.25 s and faces the changes of the system values and returning the response within (0.7-1) sec and led the system to the desired response efficiently. The numerical simulations showed that the smart WOA offers satisfying results and faster response reflected clearly on the robust and stable performance of the proposed controller in improving the transient analysis of AVR system response.

Abstract

Enhancement and color correction of images play an important role and can be considered as one of the fundamental and basic operations in image analysis for the purpose of speeding up the diagnosis of the medical images. Improving the quality and contrast of the medical image is the basic requirement for clinicians for obtaining an accurate and accurate medical diagnosis. Thus, getting a clear X-ray image reduces the effort and time-wasting. In this study a new idea will be applied for improving image contrast of the collected COVID-19 X-ray images, this idea is based on using Wiener filter, multilevel of histogram equalization (HE) technique with OpenCV library and then using contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) techniques with OpenCV library. The proposed methodology programmed in MATLAB software and then implemented using Rasperry Pi 3 model B. The size and resolution of images are different as inputted images and this difference succeeded in proving the strength of the proposed idea. The collected X-ray images have undergone experiential evaluations which clearly showed the effective performance of the proposed methodology.

Abstract

In this paper, squirrel search algorithm (SSA) is adapted to tune the optimal parameters of a backstepping controller for controlling speed in DC motor; Lyapunov stability theorem is applied to derive the control low to achieve system stability analysis. M-file and Simulink platform is used to simulate the response of the system, a comparison with conventional controllers is utilized, all gains are tuned using SSA method and integral time absolute error (ITAE) fitness function to test the efficient performance of the proposed controller also a comparison with other tuned different controllers is done. Transient response analysis is used to validating the proposed controller performance. The simulation results showed a stable response and efficint performance for the proposed controller when compared with the two conventional controllers used by 41.6% for PID controller and by 32% for PI controller in rise time while in settling time is superior by 36.97% for PID controller and by 41.82% for PI controlle these values led for achieving the desired speed in fast and stable response.

Abstract

An autonomous mobile robot is one that can move from one location to another without the intervention of a human. A maze environment is a complex environment since it contains many obstacles and the major problem is moving through it. To avoid obstacles while moving through the maze, the mobile robot must be designed with an algorithm. This work proposes a decision-making system with an ultrasonic sensor to allow the developed autonomous mobile robot to avoid obstacles in any maze setting through its movements. The maze was designed with a size of 100×200 cm2 for the case study. Due to the height dimension of the barrier (20 cm) and the height dimension of the mobile robot including the ultrasonic sensor (20 cm), a distance of 20 cm was taken between the wall (obstacle) and the sensor. The result distance between the (wood wall) object and the sensor indicates that it is a reasonable distance chosen for the mobile robot to move and turn with flexibility as it travels through the maze environment from 0 cm to 300 cm. This mobile robot path took 1 minute to finish at a speed of 5 cm/sec, indicating that it is a quick algorithm as compared with related work.
