Abstract

The selection of proper current is closely related to the depth of penetration of welds on metal and will affect the mechanical properties of the resulting welded joints. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of current on penetration depth, welding width, and hardness in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ). The research method used is experimental with currents of 180 A, 200 A, and 220 A. Welding is done on ST-37 steel using the GMAW welding technique. Penetration depth for components 1 and 2 with a current of 180 A are 0.77 mm and 0.78 mm, respectively, at a current of 200 A are 1.29 mm and 1.06 mm, and in 220 A are 1 .52 mm and 1.44 mm. The resulting welding width for 180 A is 5.86 mm, at 200 A is 6.70 mm, and at 220 A is 7.35 mm. Meanwhile, the hardness of the HAZ area shows that at a current of 180 A the hardness is 122 HV, while for a current of 200 A and 220 A the hardness is 120.5 HV. The quality standard of welded joints at each current indicates that the resulting penetration depth is more than 20%, so it can be said that the welding process has met the minimum standards.

Abstract

Abstrak Background: Piezoelektrik didefinisikan sebagai kemampuan yang dimiliki oleh kristal pada bahan-bahan tertentu yang menghasilkan energi listrik jika diberi beban. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tegangan yang dihasilkan oleh rangkaian pieoelektrik secara seri dan paralel jika diberikan beban sebesar 60 kg, 70 kg, dan 80 kg. Tegangan rata-rata yang dihasilkan oleh rangkaian seri pada beban 60 kg sebesar 3,025 volt, pada beban 70 kg sebesar 3,569 volt, dan pada beban 80 kg sebesar 3,818 volt, sedangkan untuk rangkaian paralel pada beban 60 kg menghasilkan tegangan rata-rata sebesar 1,824 volt dan pada beban 70 kg sebesar 2,455 volt dan untuk beban 80 kg menghasilkan tegangan sebesar 3,138 volt.Piezoelektrik yang dirangkai secara rangkaian seri menghasilkan tegangan rata-rata lebih besar dari pada rangkaian pararel yang masing-masing sebesar 3,470 volt pada rangkaian seri dan 2,472 volt pada rangkaian paralel. Abstract Background: Piezoelectric is defined as the ability of crystal to generate electricity on any certain material when it given a load. This study about to compared the voltage that generated by piezoelectric circuit when it given a load of 60 kg, 70 kg, and 80 kg. The average voltage produced by series circuit at 60 kg load is 3,025 volts, at 70 kg is 3,569 volts, at 80 kg is 3,818 volts, while the parallel circuit at 60 kg load produces an average voltage of 1,824 volts, and at load 70 kg produces 2,455 volt and for load of 80 kg produces a voltage of 3,138 volts.A piezoelectric that assembled in series produces a higher total average voltage than the parallel circuit, wich are 3,470 Volts in series and of 2,472 volts in parallel circuits.
