Abstract

This paper discusses educational problems in the aspects of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Hindu education philosophy is the application of Hindu philosophical concepts into Hindu education problems which is found in the real teaching learning process. Vice versa, the implementation of education can also provide ideas/input for the improvement of the Hindu philosophical concepts. Those concepts and applications influence each other and work together to enhance each other. The problems of educational ontology in the study of Hindu educational philosophy covers the definition and nature of education and learning according to the Hindu perspective. Epistemological problems of education according to the study of Hindu education philosophy including philosophical problems (goals, curriculum and materials of Hindu education), actual problems (methods, educators and students in Hindu education), supporting problems (facilities, infrastructure and approaches of Hindu education). The problem of educational axiology in the study of Hindu educational philosophy concerns the philosophy of value. The intended value according to the study of Hindu religious education is the value of the usefulness/benefit of knowledge. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa persepsi mahasiswa terhadap implementasi model pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa  dan  menginvestigasi  persepsi  mahasiswa  mengenai peningkatan kepercayan diri dan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mereka selama mata kuliah English for Tour and Travel. Design penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian Mixed Method dengan model sequential explanatory dimana tahap pertama mengumpulkan data kuantitatif deskriptif dengan bobot lebih tinggi,    sedangkan    data    kualitatif    digunakan    sebagai    data pendukung.  Pengumpulan  data  dilakukan  melalui  dua  instrumen  yaitu kuesioner (close-ended)  dan   pedoman   wawancara.      Penelitian  dilaksanakan di Program Studi Pariwisata Budaya dan Keagamaan STAHN Mpu Kuturan Singaraja dengan partisipan sebanyak  16  mahasiswa semester II kelas B yang mengikuti mata kuliah English for Tour and Travel. Hasil  penelitian  menunjukkan  bahwa  rata-rata  skor  data  adalah  4.10.  Hal ini  menunjukkan  bahwa  mahasiswa  memiliki  persepsi positif terhadap implementasi model pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa. Berdasarkan data  wawancara,  sebagian  besar  siswa  merasakan peningkatan kepercayan diri dan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mereka selama mata kuliah English for Tour and Travel.

Abstract

Commonly in running an ESP, the teacher/lecturer needs to design a learning model which begins with needs analysis, the learners’ goal/target academic, and the student’s ability to cope with the course (Lisa & Kathrin, 2016). In tourism education, it is important to analyze the students’ need analysis and contextual aspects, regarding to tourism terminologies, conversation, language function, and language expression, those aspects will give meaning to the content. The aims of this study are to investigate the types of students’ target needs toward English for tourism material development and to analyze the types of students’ learning needs toward English for Tourism material development. The approach of the study was quantitative research with a cross-sectional survey design. The sample was 114 Cultural and Religious Tourism Study Program in STAHN Mpu Kuturan Singaraja. The instruments used in data collecting were questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The results found that the students need to increase their speaking ability and confidence in using English. The result of the learning needs indicated which the students want the learning process to be more variation, be more adaptive to situations and circumstances, and should be more pleasant.
