Abstract

Physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.) is a relatively new agricultural crop commodity in Indonesia. Hence, the thrips associated with this plant are not well recognized. The research objective was to provide information and tool for identification of thrips associated with physic nut. Survey method was conducted in some areas of Java, Madura, and Lombok island. The results showed that 10 species of thrips were found associated with physic nut. They belonged to nine genera and three family i.e. Thripidae, Aeolothripidae and Phlaeothripidae and one unidentified species. The Thripidae species were Selenothrips rubrocintus, Rhipiphorothrips pulchellus, Thrips hawaiiensis, Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis, Zaniothrips ricini and Scolothrips sexmaculatus. The family Aeolothripidae were Franklinothrips vespiformis, F. variegatus and Mymarothrips bicolor; the only one of Phlaeothripidae was Ecacanthothripstibialis. The identification key had been built for all species mentioned above. These thrips can be grouped into herbivore, carnivore, and fungivore.Keywords: Jatropha curcas, thrips, diversity

Abstract

Penelitian efikasi pestisida kalsium polisulfida terhadap tungau Polyphagotarsonemus latus dilaksanakan mulai Februari sampai dengan November 2012 di Laboratorium dan Rumah Kaca Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pemanis dan Serat, Malang. Metode percobaan mengikuti ketentuan Standar Pengujian Efikasi Insektisida yang telah ditetapkan oleh Direktorat Pupuk dan Pestisida. Perlakuan disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicoba (1) Kontrol (air), (2) Rotraz 200 EC (amitraz 200 g/l) sebagai pembanding 1 g/l air, (3) Kalsium polisulfida 1,25 ml/l air, (4) Kalsium polisulfida 2,5 ml/l air, (5) Kalsium polisulfida 5,0 ml/l air, dan (6) Kalsium polisulfida 7,5 ml/l air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pestisida alami kalsium polisulfida 1,25 ml/l air efektivitasnya tidak berbeda nyata dengan insektisida pembanding yang sudah dikomersialkan (Rotraz 200EC). Formula kalsium polisulfida berpotensi diusulkan untuk mendapatkan HKI (Paten), namun harus dilengkapi uji mutu dan uji efikasi lapangan.Kata kunci: Efikasi, kalsium polisulfida, tungau Polyphagotarsonemus latus.
