Abstract

The study was conducted in 2012 and 2013 in Tamanbogo Experimental Farm consists of 3 activities, namely 1). To evaluate the kind and amount of feed consumed by 20 heads of cattle and the amount of manure produced, 2). To evaluate the amount of biogas, sludge and slurry produced by digester, and 3). To study the application of manure, dried sludge manure, and NPK fertilization on the growth and yield of hybrid maize of Pioneer 27 (P27). The research results showed that the total weight of feed consumed in the rainy season and in the dry season has already achieved to the recommendation of 10% of the body weight of cattle. The average production of manure and urine were 11.25 kg head-1 day-1 with the biogas production of 3 m3 day-1 was sufficient for cooking and lighting for 5 members of family daily. The by-product of biogas production was 8 kg day-1 of sludge and 127 L day-1 of slurry. The grain yield of P27 with application of dried sludge accompanied with 50 % of NPK fertilizer recommendation dose gave the highest yield of P27 (4.45 t ha-1) with a profit Rp. 3,466,000 ha-1 and B/C of 1.5

Abstract

Effects of Green Manure and Clay on the Soil Characteristics, Growth and Yield of Peanut at the Coastal Sandy Soil (Muchtar and Y Soelaeman): Poor physical properties and limited amount of available nutrients were regarded as two main constraints possessed by coastal sandy soil for agricultural production.  The objective of the study was to identify the effect of green manure and clay soil applications toward soils characteristic, growth and yield of peanut (Arachis hypogeae L.) in  the coastal sand soil.  A  completely randomized design with factorial pattern 4 x 5 was applied in this experiment.  The first factors were the rate of green manure application consisted of four levels, i.e. control, 5 Mg ha-1, 10 Mg ha-1 and 15 Mg ha-1 of green manures. The second factors were the addition of five different levels of clay, i.e. control, Vertisol, Alfisol, Inceptisol and Vertisol + Alfisol + Inceptisol.  Each treatment combinations were replicated three times.  Results of the study showed that the vertisol soil affecting physical characteristics of soil.  The addition of Inceptisol soil affected chemical characteristic of soil, increased growth and yield of peanut.  Application of 15 Mg ha-1 of green manures affected toward the characteristic of soils except of the crop yields.  However, there was no significant interaction effect from both materials to all variables observed.

Abstract

Acid upland soil in Indonesia has a potential for agricultural development but it has constraints low of organic C and available P as well as the soil physical properties have been degraded. The use of manure and direct application phosphate rock (PR) was an alternative to improve land productivity and crop yields. The objective of the study was to examine the effects of manure and the sources of P on soil physical and chemical properties and yield of foods crop that was arranged on intensive cropping systems of upland rice + maize -/- cassava- mungbean. The experiment was carried out at Tamanbogo Station Farm, East Lampung since 2007 until 2009 using randomized completely block design with 3 replications. The treatments were (1) 10 Mg ha-1 manures + 1 Mg ha-1 of RP, (2) without manure + 1 Mg ha-1 of PR, (3) 10 Mg ha-1 manures + 100 kg ha-1 SP 36, and (4) without manure + 100 kg ha-1 SP 36. The results showed that the application of manure along with PR improved soil chemical and physical characteristics. Its improvement affected the yield of foods crops, hence the profit increased with B/C ratio between 2.88-3.60.
